Something i think is overlooked in tdr is how bad a partner tim is. like he was lying to bernard about being robin when a killer is targetting people close to him and that includes bernard. tim only tried like twice to get bernard out of town before not only just going back and acting like everything is normal but he brought him to his base at robin when he knew the villain knew his identity. So he refuses to tell bernard about being robin and keeps him at arms length but is okay with being close to him as tim and robin. surprise surprise it leads to bernard being kidnapped and almost blown up...and tim still lies to him about being robin when it's clear now his lies didn't keep bernard safe. and bernard knows and is okay with tim lying to him about something which endangers his life? that is like one of the worst things tim has done to a partner like worse than faking lucius's death and letting tam think he was dead because in this case it actively is putting bernard in danger..........it's even worse as tim was doing it under the whole "i know best to protect my partner" thing which he did in the past which fumbled past romances like steph (like in rebirth lying to her about going back to college when he wasn't to make her stay as a vigilante as she would see it was for the best) but as i said in a worse manner due to putting his partner's life at risk.

yeah they both suck in this run (tim as a partner moreso for everything you said, but also bernard is keeping from tim that he knows his identity, and that's ? also? not treated? as a point of conflct?). i also can't take any of it seriously because this book, despite ostensibly being in the superhero genre, where secret identity bullshit is like, baked into the foundations, just does not take identity conflict seriously or even seem to care about it as a plot point at all. like what do you mean the villain knows and we're not even going to begin to bother wondering how or why that happened. what do you mean tim is gonna leave people in a burning building to go comfort bernard about his homophobic parents, despite being A HERO? what do you mean bernard ~rallies the batfam~ to go save tim and NONE of them have a problem with civilians being in the line of fire during a fight. what the fuck who are any of these people why does this book not care about Any of its characters being in character or about like. The Superhero Genre. it has all these issues that it completely ignores in favor of how it insists on shoving tim and bernard together like barbies like "SEE? THEYRE PERFECT TOGEHTER! THEY KISS!" every two pages. i genuinely believe a 13yo on wattpad could have written a better comic.

Yeah, like Tim just doesn't care that the villain knows his identity which he should given how that caused shit like his dad's death and also how protective he is of Batman's secret.....and yeah bernard rallying everyone and the batfamily okay with putting civilians front and centre is just beyond ridiculous and with how Tim again just doesn't care that bernard or the whole marina knows his identity and the batfamily's identities (which bernard also figured out with no explanation.........). It's like this image sums up tim drake robin

monthly being mad at wayne family adventures portrayal of duke. what do you meeeean damian punched someone bc they've been bullying duke for weeks. HAVE YOU READ ANY DUKE COMICS!!! the first time we meet him punching a kid bc they came at him. #notmyduke

NO LITERALLY the thing about canon!Duke is you can basically pick up ANYYY Duke story and at its core it's about Duke asserting agency and taking matters into his own hands. Zero Year & Endgame & We Are Robin & All-Star Batman & Batman and the Outsiders & Batman and the Signal like literally 99% of Duke stories are about him taking action!!! Even if Duke chose not to fight against the bully, it wouldn't be because he was scared, it would be for another reason. The idea of Duke sitting by waiting for someone to rescue him is antithetical to his character, and shows WFA writers don't understand him AT ALL. And worse, that they don't CARE!! An episode about Duke being bullied that doesn't actually talk about Duke's feelings or experiences?? #NOTMYDUKE!!

Even if he wouldn't throw hands he wouldn't be so passive enough that Damian has to interfere.....like c'mon. That frames it like he actually was legit being bullied, bullied and not faking it like say Peter Parker.

Just to establish things for people:

Jon was 9-10 yr old from 10/2015- 1/2019 so about 3 years and 4 months

Jon has been a teenager from 2/2019 to present day, 5/2025(and onwards) so about 7 years

Jay has existed since 7/2021 to present day so about 3 years and 9 months. Four years once we hit August 2025

Jon Kent has been a teenager for over twice as long as he has been a child, and with this year, Jay Nakamura would've existed for longer than Jon was a child. Maines has stated she has 5 years worth of plans for both of them & Nia. It's time to pack it up.

Still baffling to me how much controversy the very inoffensive Tim and Damian story in Lex and the City stirred. It was literally just a cute fluffy little Valentine's Day story not really meant to be taken seriously and yet people were up in arms about it

This post sums up why people were upset. TL:DR bringing back Tim's first GF and having her only dialouge be about timber reinforced for many the recurring issue of female characters (Steph) being used to hype up timber which many feel ties into the misogynistic trope in slashfic of using past female love interest as cheerleaders for m/m pairings.
