Layla was laying her head on Wyattās chest. Maybe when it was daylight, theyād find their way out of here. Just as he was resigning himself to a night spent laying against this tree when a Fletchinder flew up to him. āUmā¦where did you come from?ā Wyatt had barely gotten the words out when he heardā¦.something. He craned his neck and could make out some disturbance in the plants in the distance. For the first time in what felt like hours, Wyatt felt a pinprick of hope. āHello?ā

Josh stumbled over a twig, catching his balance on a tree. God, he was too drunk for this. He was trying to keep up with Fletchinder as best as possible but it was hard when he was intoxicated and it was dark too. Heād be lucky if he didnāt fall and break an ankle or something wandering through the forest like this. He really hoped he wasnāt wandering around for no reason. Ā
He walked forward, Fletch still in his view until she suddenly sped up and flew through a group of trees. āGeez girl, slow down,ā he grumbled as he was forced to push his way through a thick group of leafy bushes. Ā
āFletch?ā he whispered, only seeing branches and twigs in front of him. Instead of hearing a chirp in reply, he heard a faint āhelloā and either he was that damn wasted or there was actually a person out here. He thanked God when he finally made it to the other side that it was the latter. Ā
āUmā¦hi?ā he waved at the kid leaning against the tree with with his Fletchinder in front of him. He wasnāt sure he knew this him, but he did look slightly distressed. āIām Josh. Were you the one out here calling for help?ā
Iggy snuffled by Claudiaās side as she made her way cautiously through the dark forest. For a moment she cursed herself for even being out here. She really needed to stop trusting her gut. But as she strode through, casting her eyes around in case Wyatt just appeared out of no where, she heard a distant voice. āHello?ā A very delayed echo of her own call? Claudia frowned and beckoned Iggy to follow her closer to the brief noise. āAnybody out here?ā It was too dark in this forest to see anything. Was she hearing voices or was it just her imagination? She quickened her pace, Iggy trotting along behind, watching her back, ready for attack.
