It was funny to picture Adelaide and Lola on a double-date. Hell, it was funny to picture them dating at all, but he couldnât help but feel a sense of pity towards the Mercer boys. Theyâd probably never seen Lola and Adelaide together. He knew first hand the pair was a hilariously dangerous combination. Those two had no idea what they were getting themselves into. Â
Gus took a long hard gulp of his drink, playfully rolling his eyes towards his sister, âOh yeah, it sounds like oodles of fun.â Gus had never really put much thought into dating, just figured it would happen when it did. Heâd never even thought of it the way Lola put it. Were there honestly girls out there whoâd be interested in him just based on his name? That seemed hard to believe. Especially when Alex was running around campus with the same last name and an even more prominent reputation.
He couldnât help but laugh a little as she threw in the comment about his looks at the end, âWell thank you. Thatâs usually something only hear that from my mom,â he joked back. Â Â
In an attempt to think of potential love interests, Augustus twirled the contents of the drink in his hand and curled his lips in. Still, moments later, he could only shrug. âI canât really think of anyone in particular. Iâve met some nice girls lately like Jade or Claudia or Marissa, but no one Iâve just clicked with.â Â
âSure, Iâll give you that. You are kinda cool.â Rolling her eyes dramatically, Adelaide flashed a reassuring smile towards Lola. She really did think highly of her friendâshe was good with Pokemon, good with people, and Adelaide had never met someone with a better attitude towards life.
Nodding at Lolaâs expression, Adelaide already started running through scenarios and locations in her head. âConsider it done!â Grinning triumphantly, the girl sipped her drink quickly, feeling as though she were on top of the world at that moment.
Glancing between Lola and Gus, Adelaide couldnât wipe the smirk off her face. âOf course heâs good-looking, weâre twins. He doesnât have a choice.â Tossing her hair over her shoulder, Adelaide took another sip of her drink, arching an eyebrow at Gus as she registered his sarcasm. âOodles and oodles, bro.â She was surprised by the name commentâdid that really work? If so, Adelaide hadnât been milking it much all these years. Not that it mattered much now.
âHmâŚâ She murmured, tapping her chin thoughtfully. Adelaide couldnât stand Jade Blasko, though she tried to keep the scowl off her face as he mentioned the girl. Marissa and Claudia sounded better, though she was fairly sure Marissa was seeing someone. âFair enough. Thatâs pretty important, yâknow.â Speaking sagely about things she was barely knowledgeable in was one of Adelaideâs favorite hobbies, and her quick head bob at the end sealed the deal. âWeâll have to find someone else, then. We can set you up with a total rando.â
âCourse I am,â she said, with a cheesy grin. Lola finished her drink and placed the cup on the coffee table. She laid back on her pillow, settling down more comfortably before thinking some more.
âHmm, all those girls sound nice, but connection is important,â she said to Gus. She had stolen a glance at Adelaide, knowing she and Jade didnât always have the greatest roommate situation. âWell, itâll probably be easier for us to set you up if we had a better idea of what you were looking for. So what exactly does Augustus Ketchumâs dream girl look like?â She smiled, thinking of the possibilities. She had never properly set anyone up before and this seemed like it would be a lot of fun.
