I really wish ppl would stop like, hyping up men in female dominated work fields? Like male makeup artists/nail artists/hair stylists etc? Idk my head hurts and I’m not about to sound eloquent enough to voice this but it just kinda irks me I think bc like, on a minor level maybe it does seem like a big deal but actually the majority of famous fashion designers, makeup artists, hairstylists, chefs etc etc are all men. Even though they’re thought of as “female” areas and it’s annoying to see independent/small scale women in these fields getting stepped all over because “oooh wow look at this man breaking gender roles!” It’s not really breaking anything tbh????
You are making a good point. When men enter these zones, suddenly their work is valued and priced highly. But when a woman does the work it’s “expected” or she’s “submitting to gender roles” or whatever you wanna say.
and a lot of companies like estée lauder who own mac or nars that sell make and “”“feminine”“” things like that are run by men in the first place so it’s doubly stupid to think that men breaking the rules THEY set for themselves in regards to masculinity is revolutionary
