The half beaten up android looked down at her, a somber smile plastered. “There’s no need to lie.” Wheatley said, shaking his head. He knew what he did, and he knew she knew what he did. Even he wouldn’t forget what he did to her. “I’m every bit as bad as everyone says.” Every bit as stupid too, he thought, Wheatley didn’t say that out loud.
“You did some pretty awful things, that’s true.” The lady spoke slowly, softly as she glanced up at him. There was a short pause as she reached out, lightly placing her palm against his chest; though she didn’t look away from where she’d met his gaze. “…But I know that deep down, you’re really not a horrible person.”
Wheatley recoiled at her touch, not accustomed to the gentleness of which she touched him. Within seconds, he got used to the feel of her hand and eased. He looked away for a moment, his eyes giving off a blue glow. “The evilness was because of the machine, I tell you. You knew me before and I wasn’t like that!” He met her gaze again. “I was just stupid old Wheatley, then.” He knew was stupid, after learning what he really was, he had had a hard time dealing with the fact that he was literally made to be dumb.
“You were many things, Wheatley, but stupid wasn’t one of them.” Her head tipped to the side just a titch, regarding him curiously. It was true, he might not have had the best ideas sometimes, but she’d honestly never regarded him as the moron everyone else did. And she did agree with his other point. It was largely due to the chassis’ influence. That was proven by GLaDOS, in Chell’s opinion, when She was hooked up to the potato instead. But that doesn’t mean Chell would simply forgive Wheatley so easily. He could’ve at least tried to fight it.
"Oh, easy for you to say." He smiled, never able to stay sad for long. "You did so much, saved the whole place really, and without saying one word!" Wheatley was glad that the Lady decided to talk to him, it was nice hear another voice. "I know you'll never ever ever forgive me, and honestly, you have every reason not to." He wouldn't forgive himself either. "But, just know, that I honestly and truly feel bad for what I did. There's no reason for me to have made you done that. Solve all those tests and then try to kill you. I reckon that the euphoria that I went through, wasn't a pretty sight either." He was embarrassed about that, it was borderline voyeuristic to make her solve tests for his own personal pleasure. "Everything was...numb, when I was there. It hurt sometimes, too." He admitted. There was a price for being in charge of everything.
