99 Problems | Haeyin & Kafei
Kafei nodded his head, finally relaxing with a low exhale. Beginning to lean comfortably on the wall, he looked up to meet the otherās red gaze. He was glad that the real topic of this meeting could finally be discussed.
"I found it in the restricted section of the Terminian libraryā¦" He noted the small widening of Haeyinās eyes and rushed on to continue. "I had gone there to clear my mind and no one had seen me thankfully. I got by without being noticed⦠But I was⦠this is strange to say but I was drawn to the book and⦠I donāt know I guess I thought you should have it."Ā
His arms folded around himself, his fingers gripping the cloth of his suit as he stood. It was a safe gesture. He felt as though he were holding himself together.
"There were eyes that looked a lot like⦠Thomasās. They were scarily similar⦠Iām not sure if its the same but⦠Perhaps you could take a look at it. You would know betterā¦"
He looked up at Haeyin sheepishly, suddenly sorry for all the trouble. āWould you like to stop by to pick it up tomorrow? Or if youād like I could drop it off. I didnāt bring it with meā¦ā
Restricted section? Haeyin blinked, eyes widening slightly in surprise as Kafei continued speaking. Drawn to a book, hm? Teeth found the soft flesh of his inner lip and red brows creased carefully in thought. Kafeiās posture changed again, his arms folded across his chest as he leaned against the wall. He looked a little more at ease but there was still uncertainty and a certain stiffness in his tone that let the Salesman know that he was still guarded. From him? Most likely.
"āeyes that look a lot likeā¦Thomasās."
Haeyinās eyebrow lifted in confusion. Like Thomasās? But he didnāt knowā
Oh.
A soft laugh tumbled past his lips and he heard the deity within his consciousness scoff. He waved a dismissive hand when Kafei looked on edge again.
"Sorry," he said, shaking his head. Haeyin smiled, placing a hand over his chest. "I think you may have⦠misunderstood. Itās not Thomas in here, Kafeiā¦ā
He let that set in for a moment before continuing, averting his eyes in concentration as he stared off in another direction. āI am curious about this book youāve found though⦠I searched for a long time for a way to separate us and came up empty handed so, if youāre right, that the book does have a picture of him in it then.. Maybeā¦ā
The words died on his tongue. Mustnāt get too hopeful. It could be nothing. Looking back to the Terminian, Haeyin offered another smile, hoping that it looked reassuring.
"Thatās alright. Yes, I think thatās something I could manage. If you donāt mind, of course."
Kafei's head tilted, suddenly more confused than he had ever been. If its not Thomas in his head then who is it? Who's eyes had caught his? He wasn't sure whether or not to pry or to let it go. Haeyin's posture didn't reveal anythingā¦Ā For the moment he let it slide and just left it at the fact that there is something evil trapped within him⦠as if that was easy to understand. He prayed the book would help him then, and that whatever it was that plagued him could be removed easily.
Smiling, glad with the turn of the conversation, Kafei nodded his head, finally able to see that they could end this night on good terms.Ā
"I don't mind. I'll get it to you tomorrow then. Expect me in the evening."
