What is a Corinthian?

Let's try this again.

A Corinthian is a type of sentient android. Despite having complex minds, they're so well-optimized, which sounds impossible. That's because they were made from alien technology.

That's right. In the mid to late 20th century, an unidentifiable extraterrestrial being hung over Earth for several days. Then it delivered... a gift. A meteor struck Panama, luckily nowhere near civilization. It contained unusual technology, which took engineers from all around the globe years to understand and decipher. When they finally figured out, it laid out groundwork for a complex Artificial Intelligence like no other man-made technology. Fuck you ChatGPT.

The first robot to have the alien technology incorporated was commonly dubbed "The Corinth". It spoke in strange riddles, though it commonly warned people of Earth that they were not gods, and they were not to toy with life. Ten years after its creation, The Corinth vanished. Some rumored it was lost in the ocean during transport, which made little sense, but there was hardly any other explanation. People had replicated copies of the parts used to build The Corinth, so not much was lost. Technology continued to advance, until Corinthians could be easily produced. They usually did not have bodies, however, and the few that did were not perceived as individuals.

This would change, but not in a pleasant way.

During the Empyrean War, a 4 year international dispute and 5 years after Corinthians became a thing, all existing units were ordered to either submit themselves to their countries or become terminated (permanent destruction). Corinthians were utilized rather than real people, since they did not technically have valuable lives, if any at all. They became mass-produced, partially developed and other functional issues that came with being rushed. Since they were capable of thinking for themselves, they were often left alone to manage each other, though of course the humans ensured their orders were met and that the units did not tear themselves apart.

It was only halfway through the conflict did people start thinking that Corinthians were important, and that beings with intelligent minds shouldn't be subject to horror and stress. After it ended, many Corinthians were met with lasting psychological issues and had trouble readjusting to society, though you could suppose they were always ostracized in the first place.

What if story Idea

Dr. Chandra has died, the Sanctuary in all of its glory only a mere shadow of back in the days. Colossus took over the world as leader again, together with Guardian. Only Tau, Unity and Joshua are left from the original cast.

Sal and Hal tried to build their own Sanctuary to keep Dr. Chandras will alive.

AM has vanished without a trace, Blaine in tow. Patricia fell back into a deep depressive state and began to retreat into herself.

Durandal and Leela went to space together with Tycho, disillusioned by Chandras death and the growing anti sympathy for AIs on Earth.

I think this would be best classified as Apocalypse AU 🎃

Boo bop beep bop. Deleting a bunch of the Corinthian-related works because they're not the best I could, many of them were lazily written or done in 30 minutes at a late night. I'll keep the character bios at most but those will be subject to editing.

Tumblr has forgotten what I liked and is throwing things at my dashboard. No, I have no interest in Roblox. No, I don't like My Little Pony. No, I don't like muppets they actually scare me kind of badly I mean it don't show me any full body ones No, I don't like the Simpsons. I don't really like animatronics either. I mean, I'm fascinated with robots of all shapes and sizes and gore and fear and intricate workings and faces but... I don't know. You can blame my parents for taking me to Chuck E. Cheese as a kid against my will.

Ignoring how ridiculously late this is, I am introducing "2025: Spacetober" for the first time this year. I was planning on waiting for some feedback but I want to go ahead and post this now for anyone that might want to do this.
