i know that a lot of people want Yang to be Achilles, but she is such a Patroclus though.
She never had a true purpose in life, grew up with an unstable family she had to keep together with her own hands, had to fight before even knowing how. It makes sense for her to want to step away from it all, want to see something be patched together instead of torn apart.
she meets Blake, a progidy destined to become the best of the Greek, someone with a goal and desire. someone who wants to see the brighter side of life, but needs a little push in order to breathe out, pressure weighing on her shoulders. Yang finds someone so delicately beautiful and wants to keep her like that forever, wouldn't be able to stand seeing those gentle hands covered in blood
and then Yang gets sent to Troy, has to fullfill a promise that shouldn't have been hers to make. and Blake, Blake who is destined to die on that battlefield, who has so much more to live for, so many more sunsets to see, goes with her.
there is Adam, who plays tricks on Blake's mind, keeps pushing until she bites back, refuses to fight for a cause she no longer believes in. why are they killing innocents just for one girl, one man's bruised ego?
and Yang, which has never wanted to touch a weapon again, who stays with the wounded day and night and watches as they die, who has only softness in her heart, captures fate and says take me.
Blake begs her not to go, not to risk her soul out there, but gives in to Yang's fire. she helps her into Blake's armor, kisses her and prays to any god who will listen to bring Yang back to her
and they do, but carried on the shoulder of one of the kings, body limp. and Blake screams and screams and screams, and rips the whole world apart in her rage.
