god i despise that fictional man so much it's not funny.
I'm gonna say it, I do think that even the laziest person imaginable should have a roof over their head, food in their stomach, and access to healthcare
It's wild to watch the phrase "tumblr sexyman" morph into "man that tumblr thinks is sexy," because when I first saw the phrase come into use, I always saw it used in reference to the phenomenon of "when presented with a wide array of fictional characters, tumblr will always pick the skinny white man to obsess over, and if the fan-favorite character has no canonical human appearance, the fandom will inevitably create a popular fanon of the character as as a skinny white man."
When I hear "tumblr sexyman," I think of Cecil Night Vale being constantly depicted as a skinny white man instead of literally anything else. I think of the background character white men who get elevated over protagonists that are women, people of color, or otherwise not the white man power fantasy.
"Tumblr sexyman" is, like. An insult. I DON'T want any of my blorbos to win a "tumblr sexyman" poll. "Tumblr sexyman" is the exact opposite of what I want my own OCs to be. If any of my characters ever get called "tumblr sexyman," I will have to immediately re-evaluate myself and the art I'm making.
Things I think of when I hear "tumblr sexyman":
Cecil Night Vale, as previously mentioned.
Oncelercest, because if there aren't two skinny white men to ship, tumblr fandom will start shipping the skinny white man with himself.
Bill Cipher inexplicably being fanon'd as a white twink despite being a fucking triangle.
Everyone fawning over Marvel Loki while shoving every woman and Black person in the MCU aside.
The way nearly every single character in Hazbin Hotel has the same "tall and skinny" body type, along with all the criticisms Black audience members have made about the issues with Alastor's design.
The way tumblr got obsessed with the white man villain in Sinners.

classist classmate is still, somehow, causing issues even though they're completely disconnected now being we found the popular artist they've actively been copying to a T but dare I say badly??? Like, I know that's evil to say but like even people with the most specific inspirations for their work diversify it a little. There's different ways to line more traditionally comic based art-styles, fun ways to render specifically manga based works; no two artists have the exact same inspirations to the letter and that's what made being an illustration student so appealing because aside from one or two people it was generally supportive and everyone understood what makes an artwork theirs even with pre-established ip. It's so... god I feel bad for the main artist they're attempting to reheat the nachos of because they don't understand interpretation or inspiration and simply follow trends. Not once have they shown an interest that isn't deeply, deeply popular unless they're talking about car shows in the same sentence where I'm explaining table budgetting.
For context: on Grace and Frankie, Martin Sheen is building a ship in a bottle for his grandson and says to his daughter, "I always hoped you and your sister would take an interest in this, but you had your dolls and she had that bizarre dance club she built for spiders".
WHICH TYPE OF KID IS YOUR GIRL BLORBO? (take the options as vibes, not exact matches)
Builds Ships In Bottles
Plays With Dolls
Builds Dance Clubs For Spiders
My Girl Blorbo Was Never A Child

Spin the wheel. That's who's trying to kill you.
Spin the wheel again. That’s who’s trying to protect you.
(If you have zero idea about a name you got, spin until you see someone you recognize.)
Are you safe?
Absolutely not. I'm dead. 100% dead.
I might stay alive, but it'll be a really close thing.
I'll take some hits, for certain, but I should be okay in the end.
A few attacks might get through, but nothing concerning.
The attacker might be able to get in one lucky hit. If that.
I am the opposite of worried. I'm 100% safe.
…Look. I've tried picturing this. But I honestly don't know how to answer.
(I've run this poll twice before, expanding it significantly for the second run. With about a year passed since that second run, I thought it was time to add another couple hundred names to the list and have another go.)
today's the day
My girlfriend about to experience Laserhawk for the first time after an appointment. She Knows Nothing about the games, general context or anything aside from me prepping a video essay on Ubisoft and how much I dislike Ubisoft As a Company (not the media)
She's a politics student so I think she'll have at least half a brain about it but. Ough. Mildly nervous. I Will Be Making A Live Blog of sorts when this happens.
this was shockingly easy to make
Would your girl blorbo make a good lifeguard?
Canonically worked as a lifeguard
Yes, she’s attentive and physically capable
She isn’t quite attentive enough
She doesn’t have the physical capabilities
She can’t swim at all
I don’t think she’d gaf if she saw someone drowning
Other/nuance
Yes I ship them. Non-canonically. Yes I know they got together in canon, it was a terrible decision, it made the story much worse. I don't want them together in the story, I just ship them. What's confusing.
feminist retelling shoulsnt be the woman does some girlboss shit femist retelling is she does the same stuff except u actually give a shit abt her perspective and thoughts and feelings as a human being this time
when someone is completely fucking wrong about your blorbo but you don't want to argue about what basically boils down to opinions about shit that doesn't matter so you just sit there like
"that guy's wrong tho"
you get it

Looking through old memes, fanart and general things for CLH genuinely sucks so much sometimes, not just because “wow we used to have so much coming and now we’re basically just a bunch of people who live in the same apartment block and only occasionally check on eachother and it really was so much better!”
I mean I do feel that but also it’s just how rampant the hatred for Sarah was (and still is, I see some of you and I automatically assume you’ve got a bias caused by a love for only One Source Material or you’ve got something backwards you need to check but it’s definitely founded in some form of internalised bigotry. Probably a mix of a few actually. Her very existence is a litmus test that so many people fail I swear to fucking god).
Like I’ll just be scrolling and see the most daft take known to man and the fact that there’s people out there who think her entire thing is somehow worse than Red, Alex, Pey’j or all of the above is insanely disappointing. Like either it’s a take from someone too young to be here or a raging misogynist who needs to be humbled immediately. Bonus points if they also ignore or hate Dolph… I know exactly what that kind of person is.
Sorry for being a bit of a downer but like… it gets quite tiresome looking back. Do I love it here? Yes of course! But also sometimes looking at how it was when we were larger I’m so glad we’re smaller now and are mostly open to interpretation that goes beyond the usual.
i tried to be funny and it backfired miserably
