Announcement Regarding the Passing of Wakana Yamazaki, Voice of Ran Mouri

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of voice actress Wakana Yamazaki, who portrayed Ran Mouri in Detective Conan for nearly 30 years since the television series first began airing in 1996. We hereby extend our deepest condolences.

All of the Detective Conan production staff would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for Ms. Yamazaki’s tremendous dedication to the series and her many years of invaluable contribution to the work. We sincerely pray for her peaceful repose.

Please note that this matter is as announced by her agency, Aoni Production Co., Ltd.

In addition, we have received the following comment from the original creator, Gosho Aoyama, which we would like to share below.

Original Creator Gosho Aoyama:

“It is incredibly heartbreaking to think that I will never again hear that gentle, comforting voice that always felt so naturally close by…”

As for the role of Ran Mouri going forward, with deep respect for the character Ms. Yamazaki carefully nurtured over the years, Akemi Okamura will continue the role.

All of the production staff will continue to carry forward the legacy and feelings that Ms. Yamazaki engraved into this work with the utmost care.

We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to all the fans who have warmly supported the series throughout the years.

Once again, we pray that Wakana Yamazaki may rest in peace.

^ ref picture. admittedly I just traced over the architecture... and somehow just blahablahhghhh my way around afterwards. Kinda wanted to go for a sunny sort of feeling with bright colors... I'm pretty happy with it!

For those who want to experiment with RGB color sliders too, here's how it looks. I just slide along the gradients... I can't explain anymore than that bc I have no idea. 6_6;

anyways, I had the vibes of a YA Romance Novel cover in my head when I was playing around with the typography...! 😆 kinda looks like it can be a book cover... or magazine, huh~
