I really like clouds, I used to think about them way more when I was younger. But I still like them, a lot! I'm 27 years old and for at least 21 of those, I've been wanting to be a cloud

i'm never getting over the fact that gilbert, unlike people who haven't been abused and ostracized, that being nice won't make the pain of abuse and ostracizing won't go away because normally, when people know you're suffering from abuse and whatnot, they tend to treat you Differently, you're suddenly another statistic rather than a person

and yeah, gilbert has never really been treated nicely, but when he HAS been treated nice over his misfortune (by sophia and tazto) things got worse immediately after. when sophia started caring about him, auguste got mad as hell and orchestrated an entire thing to get her away from him. and when tazto dragged gilbert back home (because he's ignorant of the situation and truly thinks the best place for gilbert is home, just to realize he's wrong. he looks so sad when he has to leave gilbert there too!) after bonnard raped him auguste goes and rapes him AGAIN.

when people have been nice to him it distracts him from the horrors but it doesn't take them away, quite literally. i think it's a neat little detail because his way of showing care is so peculiar. he likes giving gifts to serge, he forces self-care onto him at one point the same way serge does, and he puts down the mask(s) for him. so much to think about. this is so poorly structured i'm sorry
