Sunny Walker, starting at 15 by season 1 and 21 by Dragons Rising, is Jay Walker’s twin. She is the Elemental Master of Portals. Cliff Gordon was the previous Master, however whether or not he knew is anyone’s guess. This AU will follow the majority of Canon Ninjago, only changing to fit Sunny where she can.
BEAUTIFUL PERSON AWARD! You're supposed to paste it in the asks of 8 (or more) people who deserve it. If you break the chain nothing happens, but it's sweet to know someone thinks you're beautiful inside and out <3
Her and Uncle Redson training her Samadhi fire, and of course Redson is way too smug about being the favorite Uncle. He’s spoiled her since she was a baby, but MK doesn’t mind since it’s the only time he sees him be soft with someone else.
This was just practice, I’m not adding a lot of angst to this AU. It’s my fluff/crack AU.
More yummy Twin Strikes AU soup for @cloudy-oxo10:
When Tal and Tam got older and actually started going OUT to get haircuts (because when they were younger Edna would just cut their hair) they would go in separately so one twin would go in and get their hair cut then when he left the other twin would go in and get the exact same haircut and confuse the CRAP out of the barbers there—they would even both use the same name when checking in, using “Jason W.” because they’re BOTH Jason (sometimes also writing a script and saying the exact same things when they go in, and after unlocking their elements and telepathic communication, this steps up their game). [Also never helped that they loved dressing the same and even when they didn’t match outfits intentionally, their wardrobes were always kinda copy and pasted in different fonts/colors, soo…-] They continue to do this in their adult years from time to time until Nya forbade them from getting haircuts anywhere after a barber screwed up Tal’s haircut/curls—only Edna is now allowed to cut their hair.
Tam was the sweet bb boi with the lil naturally innocent smile while Tal had a naturally devious smile—they’re both gremlins, though, so- When they were little, they discovered they could use this to their advantage where they would do some mischievous gremlin shenanigans, Tal would be accused for his devious expression but it would be found that he was hiding nothing—meanwhile Tam was hiding all their goods and then when the adults’ backs were turned, the two would scuttle off into some nook or cranny and feast on whatever treats they had snatched.
Their entire lives growing up on the junkyard they’ve made designs and built inventions together—actually they just kinda did EVERYTHING together. In the AU, contrary to canon, Tal visits his parents on the junkyard a lot more, especially at the start, mainly due to Tam; the two boys never liked being too far from each other for long periods of time—if you tried when they were toddlers, one of the other would start giving off high-pitched, ear-splitting screams/shrieks, causing the other one to join in until they were placed back next to each other.
In S1 Ep3 “Snakebit”, because Tam would’ve been at the junkyard with Ed and Edna after returning home from visiting Tal on the Bounty (which would’ve been the first time the other ninja had met Tam let along found out Tal had a twin brother and were SHOCKED at seeing double) which means he was there when the Fangpyre attacked—this being before unlocking his element, Tam wasn’t able to do much in defense, inevitably being turned into a Serpentine just like Ed and Edna. (To this day, he still has slight fangs, though they aren’t quite as noticeable as Tal’s since antivenom was used on Tam and their parents but not on Tal.)
Adding to the previous, when the ninja came to save them and Tal actually used the Nunchucks of Lightning in the presence of Tam, that was when Tam felt what he described as something unlocking inside himself—a few days later he accidentally used his element and actually discovered it. After telling Tal about it—and both being ecstatic that Tam now had his own element—they talked with Wu and both he and Tal gave Tam some training exercises both including and excluding his element, which gave him a slight head start when he eventually joined the ninja.
They race each other everywhere, especially just around the junkyard when they were younger; they would be playing out in the sand or scrapheaps and when they were called in for dinner, it was instantly a race of twists and turns and obstacles and always ended in “I WAS FIRST! NO, I WAS FIRST! NUH UH! IT WAS ME! MAAAA, WHO WAS FIRST, IT WAS ME, RIGHT??”—they would also race in or out of shops in the few rare times they were go into town and then after Tam joined the team, they started racing around the Bounty if they actually had to go somewhere or not, and eventually around the Monastery as well once it was rebuilt. They even raced during missions, their obstacles becoming the bad guys they were facing.
We all know and love Ed and Edna’s accents, as it is sometimes in cannon audible in Tal/Jay’s voice though you can hear him grow out of it a bit, however, since Tam joined the ninja much later on, he kept his accent for a little while longer since he had stayed at the junkyard with Ed and Edna for longer.
Despite having had his element discovered and been training with and without it from so early on (even having some private lessons with Wu with none of the ninja aside from Tal knowing), it wasn’t until shortly before the Hands of Time debacle that Tam actually joined the team and become a full-fledged ninja. At first, it was only the hesitance that Tam would be behind on his training and wanted to get the hang of his element more and such first, and also that he wanted to stay to protect their parents if they ever needed that kind of help again, but there was also that there was never really a time to join, as the ninja were on the Dark Island, then were fighting the Overlord, and even after that they kind of had a break from being ninja, becoming teachers, etc. And then there was the rise of the Digital Overlord, the ninja going to space, all that stuff—though during the break after the defeat of the Overlord and then again after defeating the Digital Overlord, Tam continued training with Wu on his own (learning Spinjitzu early on in that time with Wu and mastering it not much later)—and even after they lost Zane, Lloyd didn’t ask Tam to join the team to fill the gap because Lloyd never actually really met Tam beforehand. After Zane’s death, Tal left to stay at the junkyard with his parents and brother for a while before he started the whole gameshow thing, which he did to distract himself even though Tam advised him not to, Tal of course still did it since he rarely listens to anyone. Later however, Tam was invited to the Tournament of elements, and he did go (mainly to keep an eye on his grieving brother and his brother’s desperate and torn team), but remained undercover the entire time, as if he had never actually gone and stayed away from the ninja as much as possible as not to be detected or gain suspicion (able to communicate with them telepathically naturally with Tal and could do so with the others through his element) and especially did so when Nya came to the island undercover as well. He helped discreetly from the sidelines, just enough to aid the ninja while keeping anyone off his own trail. In Possession even with this experience in espionage, Tam still stayed away through both Possession and the start of Skybound due to the rift that had formed between his brother and Nya, so both brothers thought it were best if she didn’t keeping seeing and extra Tal around, or else that could make things even worse between her and Tal (for multiple reasons, one of which that Tam thought of was that he didn't want Nya to fall for him while in the roughpatch with Tal). [Tam did still learn Airjitzu/Cyclondo, however, as Tal had telepathically sent him an image of the scroll so he could learn.]
During Skybound, Tal had instantly filled Tam in on every single little thing that had happened and continued to update him in real time through their telepathic connection; with Tal’s first wish to Nadakhan, both of them each separately got a letter saying that their father had died and that they had inherited money, Tam more confused than concerned like Tal was as Tam had been AT the junkyard with Ed when he received the letter, knowing full well that Ed was alive, and with finding out they’re adopted, the two brothers stuck together for a while and went to the Gordon mansion together, meaning Tal’s second wish of wishing he weren’t alone played out different than in the show (Nadakhan did however still show up as he couldn’t sense that there were two of them there thanks to them having the same genetic signature). After that, though, then Tal departed again, to rejoin the other ninja, Tam only briefly remained at the mansion before returning to the junkyard; later on, though, when Tal went through the Traveler’s Tea portal from the Lighthouse and ended up at the junkyard, Tam somehow knew he was coming and after helping him regain his bearings, Tam took Ed’s side in giving Tal some tough love and getting him off his butt, sticking with his brother for the rest of it and being the first member of team Ninja Replacements (using his own set of Destiny Robes/Aijitzu gi that Wu had given him for mastering the technique)—or rather, as Tam renamed them since Tal’s team name was “the absolute most lamest thing ever and total trash” (Tam’s words immediately after Tal gave the name), they were called the “(Twin) Strike Team” which gained much more favor from the rest of the team. He helped stop Nadakhan and during the battle, was even used as a distraction to get Nadakhan's attention because he THOUGHT Tam was Tal(/Jay). After the final wish and time reversed itself, Tam still remembered the entire alternate timeline like Tal and Nya did, and after the whole ordeal and his brother and Nya were back together (Tam giving it a week or two to make sure they were good again), Tam officially joined the ninja team not long before the Day of the Departed (hanging out with Tal throughout after the ninja were at the museum and such, then at the junkyard when Samukai attacked and Samukai not expecting to see double, so he easily lost to the twins). So he was on the team from Hands of Time (or Day of the Departed) and onward.
I feel like there's more I could add, but Tumblr is already freaking out on me and wasn't letting me save the post with how long the last paragraph/block was so I had to split it in two- =~=
XXDDD These are awesome! I like Trippy Flippy, it really does encompass the crack AU part of it
I forgot to also mention that Tams hair looks different because it’s supposed to be exactly like Jays before the redesign, which is also why it’s straight and not curly
I finished a gift for @jay-the-walker-36 earlier than i thought i would. I started it Sunday morning, using a base i already made for a different drawing, and managed to pull this out. Enjoy!
I DREW TAL AND TAM. I DREW THE BOYZZZZZZZZ. It’s not fully rendered like my bigger projects, but still generally good! I love these goobers like my own now.
Hope i did them justice, and PLEASE tell me if there’s something that you think could be better. ♥️
PRETTY EYES YAYYYYY!!! I took a few creative liberties in some areas purely because i couldn’t fit all the details, BUT IM GLAD YOU LIKE IT!! i don’t really color eyes because the style doesn’t use colored eyes, but i might be able to incorporate it somewhere later.

I know you put a picture of Tal and Tam, and what Tam specifically looks like, but what colors do you think his suit are?
Also love your little guys and i read the short story about Jay’s prosthetic and it was GOOOOODD! ♥️
YES! I'd been experimenting with colors and the colors I can't get out of my head for him are a pale greenish color and a palish shade of yellow; I've been thinking about it A LOT lately and am probably going to start working on some color design possibilities with what's his main color and what's his accent color, because the pale green is typically associated with Morro, so- We'll see!!
AND THANK YOOOOOOOUUUUU; on both accounts! I love the two lil goobers so much (just like my other sibling-Jay AU where I may or may not have given him a handful of younger bio siblings- cough cough-) and am really proud of that short story! <333
Wow this took me forever to start doing. For plot twist/ surprise reasons, not every detail will be explained here. BUT. I really want to info dump about my OC, Sunny Walker :D
(This long post will include some OLD drawings, but i don’t have many options :/)
MASTERS OF SPINJITZU:
Sundara Walker, Sunny, is the twin of Jayesh Walker, Jay. (yes i gave them full names, sue me.) In the Pilots and first 2 seasons, they are 15 years old, making them the second youngest members of the ninja team, the youngest being Lloyd. Jay has him regular canon role, while Sunny plays a role more like Misako and Nya.
She’s a helping role, that tends to research more than defend. She’s valuable for this, as she’s more available than anyone else, and therefore is usually the outside contact for business deals and advertisements (like in season 6). Sometimes the ninja forget her value in the team, but Jay is quick to remind them (big bro to the rescue!)
Canon doesn’t change much with this, up until season 11. While trapped with the ninja in the Neverrealm, she accidentally used her portals to save the group. Because of their situation though, they weren’t able to focus on this aspect until the end of the season, back in the monastery.
Season 12 is where she begins to hone her powers, practicing a lot. Prime Empire put a wrench in things, until the end. Instead of Jay flying through the gateway back to the real world, Sunny unlock her true potential, open a portal back to real life, where together they stop Unagami. This starts her official career as the Portal Ninja.
For fluidity purposes, her role in the remaining seasons until Dragons Rising are just to be paired with another ninja, providing easy escape and long-range attacks. Her power also allows her to physically hold miniature portals that she can throw like frisbees, and they’re very sharp.
DRAGONS RISING:
Just like Jay, Sunny was lost after the Merge, and even lost her memories. The twins stayed together, working for the administration and Ras. During their stay with Ras, biological and family secrets were revealed, and they uncovered their Stone Oni side. (This is where it starts to really diverge, but not too much.) Stone Oni’s are a subspecies of Oni, which have enough dragon blood to differentiate them from regular Oni, and therefore were cast out.
While the twins stayed together for a while, morals led them apart, and after the Tournament of Sources, Sunny returned with the Ninja to the monastery. She hadn’t participated in the tournament, but she had been watching.
She spent her time trying to regain her memories, and training to use her elemental power better. She had rarely used the Wolf mask, so her goodness was easy to unshatter. (headcanon that you can reverse shattering your goodness with love, bleughhh).
She and Jay began to start having arguments after Jay began to stay at the monastery, mostly him being stubborn about staying mysterious and aloof, and her trying to convince him to change. Nya was a pillar of support for Sunny during this time and vice versa.
Season 4 of DR had them splitting up again, with Sunny staying back at the monastery with Cole and the finders. She kept the monastery in check in lieu of Mr. Frohicky. The end of the season, she joins the final battle by following Cole, aiding where she can.
Sunny is overjoyed to have her brother back, but the issue still stands that he got his memories back, but she didn’t. Jay now frequently rambles about every memory he gains, in hopes that it sparks something in her. It never does. She feels guilt that her brother tries so hard, yet she can’t feel anything for missing memories, instead trying to focus on new ones.
This maybe change as we get more season of Ninjago, but for now this is where we are.
Bonus, a little family backstory!
FAMILY HISTORY:
Cliff and Libber Gordon are the parents of Jay and Sunny. Libber’s maiden name is Dark, and her past is… fairly unknown, which never bothered Cliff. Libber was the previous Lightning master, and Cliff was the previous Portals master. Whether or not he knew was anyone’s guess, but not many others knew.
When the twins were a year or two old, Libber mysteriously vanished, and Cliff was unable to properly care for the twins by himself, so he sent them to some friends who were close by, Ed and Edna Walker. They were like Lobber’s Suedo Aunt and Uncle. The twins grew up with them, and Cliff kept a close eye on them.
This is all the Lore side of Double Trouble, but i’m going to roblog with some extra drawings and bits and pieces, so that will be soon.
I already love Sunny so much and love her and Jay’s dynamic and just EVERYTHING- I love when people hive Jay a twin sister
I have so many Jay AUs and one of them is I also gave him a twin! (Though it’s a twin brother just for some kicks and giggles with stuff involving the AU)
Both of their names are Jason; ‘Jay’, as we know him as, is Jason Tawelfryn Walker(-Gordon), and his brother is Jason Tamilsen Walker(-Gordon), and since they’re both ‘Jason’, they go by a shortened version of their middle names (based on a family I know where thee dad and two sons all have the same first name and just go by their middle names): ‘Tal’ and ‘Tam’ (Jay/Tal is embarrassed of his full middle name, so he tries passing it off as his full middle name is simple Tal). By how old are they, I’m assuming you meant who’s the older twin-? In that case, Tal is the older twin, though sometimes you’d assume Tam was older because of their personalities. They did in fact grow up together, with their bio mother, Libber, leaving them both on the doorstep of the Walkers; she was fearful that someone or something would come for one of them if one inherited her elemental power, so she hid them. She also didn’t quite trust raising them in a household with Cliff as a father as that was around the time he started openly womanizing and disregarding Libber. Their relationship is extremely strong; they grew up happy out in the middle of nowhere on the junkyard with Ed and Edna and grew up as each other’s best friends and protectors. (Meaning there was always a blur of who was older than who with how protective they could be even as young children.)
Tam does have an elemental power, but instead of getting it from Cliff or some other inheritance/passing on (like the Master of Ice to Zane) he actually inherited it from Libber even while Tal is still the Master of Lightning. Tam’s element is a branch off of lightning; it’s the Elemental Power of Bolt with is extremely different from Tal’s powers; Bolt is control over not lightning itself, but the components of lightning. Tam’s not a ninja at first, and despite having known of his element since not too long after Tal became a ninja, it still wasn’t until a lot later that he joined the team. (Tal was the first and only person he told about his element before they told their parents; no one else knew for a long while.)
So far he doesn’t I’ve been kinda trying to decide if I wanted to give him one or not so TBD.
Tam’s personality is similar to Tal’s, but he’s more laid back and doesn’t blabber for no reason (only when he’s excited and talking about his interests, so that’s something both have in common); he’s also a geek about inventing like Tal as they often make blueprints and designs together, especially while growing up—his peronality is hard to describe because like I KNOW it, just not the words for it- I guess to put it simply, he has Tal’s personality with the screaming and crash outs toned down and in early seasons, if you were to ask any one the other ninja which twin was more responsible in a general sense, every single one would say Tam. Tam and Tal very much so resemble each other; they’re identical twins, so telling them apart can be a tricky thing. However, they do have a few distinct feature, like for instance, Tal has his eyebrow slit which is caused by a scar that resides there from an invention incident back when they were kids at the junkyard, meanwhile Tam has a scar on his lip from the same incident; their dimples are also opposite, as they both have asymmetrical dimples, Tal’s left dimple is deeper/more prominent and appears more easily while Tam’s right dimple is the one like that; their eyes, though, are probably the most distinguishing feature is their eyes—Tal has bright electric blue irises that have a lightning yellow color flecked throughout them as well as in jagged detailing around his pupils, while Tam’s eyes are a vibrant green that look as if the colors in Tal’s eyes mixed together (so from afar it’s practically impossible to tell them apart) with flecks of the same yellow and similar designs around his pupils. Assuming that by resembling each other mentally is the way they think, then it’s similar but also different in a way; Tal can overthink so many things so easily (especially early on, though he gets better about it) and Tam can be the same, but not quite as often, yet just as severely—a difference, however, is that when thinking of a plan of idea, Tal sees the entire movement of a plan while Tam envisions the logistics and each process. On top of their intense twin-telepathy they’ve had their entire lives (plus post-True Potential for Tal, due to the electric brainwaves a person has and lightning being literal electricity, the twins could telepathically communicate with each other with extreme ease, barely even having to think about it and later discovering both of them could do it with other people if they focused enough) their ways of thinking click together like puzzle pieces and they become better strategists than Zane when working together. (On missions after Tam becomes a ninja as he joins the team long after Tal’s True Potential, they strategize telepathically and simply let their minds connect/join together which brings their plans to a whole new level; they can even do this when they’re split into groups and the twins are apart, which helps extremely with communication especially is comms are down—with them in different groups of the team, they can figure out a plan telepathically then both groups are able to execute their sides of the plan perfectly.)
I do have a few doodles of them in my sketchbook! (Ignore the one being covered up by erasers; I also just did the sets of eyes as I was writing all of this so they’re not great and were done really quick, lol—figuring out which type of markers to use before I color them)
OOOOOOH I LOVE THEM. lowkey wanna draw him now, but we’ll see if i get the motivation.
(triplet AU??? lmao)
FAMILY BACKSTORY GOES HARDDDD. I have a lot of ideas already fleshed out for their family, but i want to reveal it slowly.
Tam’s element is so interesting. I played around with the idea of Sunny originally have a lighting element as well, but scraped it for a more original idea (Bonus early sketches. You can see how much of the design i actually kept)
Also, i really like the telepathy idea! Logically Sunny and Jay do not have that, but they’re so close they might as well.
Sunny and Jay have brown eyes, and Jay has a prosthetic after Skybound which he likes as a blue the best. I forgot to mention that Sunny has the faintest scar on the left side of her face, from the chin reach until below her eye. She fell when she was younger and got a scratch. Literally just needed a bandaid, but it looks cool. Jay and her always make up a fake story about how it happened, so no one knows the truth.
(just realized i reblogged this on the wrong account but i put too much effort into this so im not changing it)

So this is her! (i don’t remember if i ever you guys the name i landed on :| It’s Tegan, which sounds close to 天 (Tiān) and means Heavens.) I couldn’t figure out what i wanted her True Form to look like for the longest time, but i actually like this one!
Her mask is the same shape as Wukongs, but has these darker pink strips that break off from the bottom. She has a pink heart marking on her chest, the same as Wukong, like when he was younger.
Also, her eyes have this thing where if you look closely, you can see the Samadhi Fire burning. It’s only visible from a really close distance though, so most people don’t even know about it. She found out by accident one day.
It’s not really cleaned up, and i did it on my phone with my finger, but it definitely gets the idea across.
Also, my friend and i had dubbed her nickname lovingly as Neapolitan Hair, because of the colors. (btw, the hair coloring is a glamour she uses so as not to damage her real hair.)
So I actually made another version of just her in her full true form. I needed a reference for drawing her. I’m pretty sure it doesn’t count as nudity, so i won’t tag it is such, but i’ll still put it under the cut.
Her chest marking matches her face markings, like Wukong’s does.
If you can’t tell already, Wukong and Tegan are related, which is through MK technically.
Took me a while to figure it out, but MK is her dad, and Wukong her Uncle. To simplify it, the Samadhi Fire basically became personified and used MK’s energy to created a body for itself. Since she is mostly monkey with the power of Samadhi, MK raises her.
Does this technically mean it’s also Redson’s kid? i mean, yeah, because he created the fire. Think of it as a donor, unwillingly. But he acts more like an uncle and mentor.
I used that screenshot of Wukong when he was still very… monkey??? idk, he was un domesticated or something.
Anyways, I like it because i think it matches Tegans vibe. I love the headcanon that Wukong tries to human more than monkey, which is why he wears clothes and acts human and stuff.
I wanted Tegan to be more Monkey, walking on all fours and climbing trees, chirping and sleeping in the treetops. She’s very much a wild child, always looking for adventure and not wanting to be held down. It gets her in trouble eventually, but she can handle herself usually.
