(brief explanation of the story) vv
Cloverbelly and Eveningstar are the kits to Pigeonstep and Staggeredrock.
; Staggeredrock was a former kitty pet
; he died in battle before his kits were born, causing Pigeonstep her depression
; Pigeonstep was assisted in raising her kits by Oatpurrs mother, (unnamed cat)
; Eveningkit and Oatkit’s friendship starts here
Both choosing the path of becoming warriors, they trained together (for the most part) while Cloverpaw tended to her sick mother, who became an Elder early from her worsening depression.
Up until 1/3 of the way into their apprenticeship, Pigeonstep died and Cloverbelly, in midst of her grief, switched to train as a medicine cat
; Cloverpaw never had friends her age, and was often teased for being stuck in the Elders den
; Morningdove, the Windclan medicine cat, had grown very fond of Cloverpaw and knew where her heart lies, allowing the exchange into Medicine cat.
Cloverpaw used her connection with Starclan to see her mother, the only thing that brought her joy; outcasted by the cats her age, and very isolated from Eveningpaw who was always busy being social.
For a still unknown reason, (around the time Eveningpaw became Eveningsun), Starclan began to reject Cloverpaw and stop her from seeing them. This brought Cloverpaw a lot of stress
; never talked about this, but grew increasingly upset and sour
Morningdove caught on, but assumed Cloverpaw was jealous of Eveningsun getting his warrior name, so after a good few months (~2) Morningdove took a trip with Cloverpaw to the Moonstone
This was Cloverpaw’s last hope to see Starclan.
As you can imagine, it didn’t work, so now Cloverbelly was furious. With her new name, Morningdove was turning away to go outside of the cave, and that’s when Cloverbelly attacked and killed her.
; who knows how she got away with this LOL
Time passes after this, maybe a year+ ; nothing new really has happened, Cloverbelly is as isolated as ever but manages to do her job well while hating Starclan
;Eveningsun becomes deputy
She’s driven herself mad, at this point.
Things pick up once Eveningsun becomes Eveningstar. Cloverbelly is beyond delusional and angry that now her brother is closer to Starclan then she is.
Around this time is when Eveningstar tries to rekindle his relationship with Cloverbelly, but it doesn’t work.
Oatpurr is now expecting Eveningsun’s kits, and Eveningsun becomes Eveningstar before they are born.
Cloverbelly is ecstatic and delusional, seeing their kits as a taunt from Starclan— she hates the fact Eveningstar, her own brother, is closer to Starclan then she will ever be
; Fennelkit and Cootkit are born. Cloverbelly can tell from the start that Fennelkit is important
Cloverbelly spent more and more time with Fennelkit, who was already drawn to her, and seemed to be improving mentally;
Eveningstar was happy that his sister was “getting better” and that Fennelkit was so drawn to herbs, hoping this meant that Cloverbelly would train her as an apprentice (something she’s refused to do no matter how many times shes asked)
—> this is seen in the artwork above; Cloverbelly staring at Fennelkit as Eveningstar asks when she’ll get an appearance

just 2 days before they are scheduled to become apprentices, Cloverbelly takes them from the nursery; she convinced Fennelkit to get up this night to go and seen the moonstone, telling her to bring Cootkit alive.
her reasoning for this is never explicitly explained, but it’s likely she was going to kill Fennelkit, if not both, at the moonstone to get back at Starclan
Cootkit senses something is wrong, and calls out to wake the whole clan— Cloverbelly is forced to hold him down. Fennelkit is scared and confused, still by her side
Eveningstar confronts Cloverbelly, with Oatpurr right behind her… Cloverbelly breaks down, and confesses to everything; what she’s done, her emotions, ect.
; Eveningstar is in shock
; Oatpurr Is furious
; Eveningstar commands the rest of the clan to stand down (not interfere).. he still cares about his sister
After that, Cloverbelly grabs Cootkit, and throws him down the hill and onto upcoming cars… you can assume what happened.
Oatpurr and Fennelkit run down the hill after Cootkit
Eveningstar is in shock, and after some more talking, Cloverbelly kills him, taking a single life.
As he revives, Starclan cats surround everything and finally show themselves to Cloverbelly— she is in shock, feeling a bit happy
Pigeonstep is seen upset, watching as Cloverbelly walks up to her. She is distracting her, as Oatpurr runs up the hill
; Pigeonstep loves her daughter, and never wanted to be kept away from her despite Starclan’s decision
(I look at it like there’s a Starclan counsel, they’re not any specific cat who died, but visualizations of the actual Gods)
Then, Oatpurr comes up from behind and kills Cloverbelly in a motherly rage. She only stops once to see how happy Cloverbelly looks, confused (she can’t see the Starclan cats)
… and that’s it in terms of the main story.

That night, Eveningstar gets a dream/prophecy that Fennelkit is important, she NEEDS to be a medicine cat and directs him to Riverclan, who just happens to have 3 medicine cats, allowing Windclan to take one to train Fennelkit.
; Fennelkit’s training goes very well! she’s social and happy despite the distaste and fear the clan has for a while about Medicine cats and Eveningstar
; she sees, hears and can ghostly feel the Starclan cats. this is something she never mentions to anyone
After her training is done, the Riverclan cat leaves. Fennelrain is still happy, but the voices of the Starclan cats are intense and often stress her out.
; shes seen talking, whispering, shushing or yelling at the Starclan cats, who aren’t visible to anyone but her
; nobody fully believes her
(( her mother is busy caring for more kits, and her father is busy being the leader. so she has no support
Moons pass, maybe even a year, before Fennelrain starts to really struggle.. her clanmates are catching onto her previous behavior, and often fear or dislike her
Occasionally she’ll swing at the Starclan cats, causing her to end up hitting someone/something else and getting scratched or bruised.

Cloverbelly sees how stressed she is. So one night, Cloverbelly visits her in her sleep and takes her to the Darkforest. It takes several nights, but eventually she suggests to Fennelrain Darkforest poppy seeds, that lessen all her physical pains, and the Starclan cats.
Fennelrain is on her breaking point, and takes them— she feels lighter, happier and the Starclan cats are reduced to just about 20% (originally being 70% intensity)
; this continues for another year or more
; Cloverbelly is subtly manipulating her into thinking Starclan is evil, and so is Eveningstar
After a while, she does snap and is lead by Cloverbelly to stand atop the Medicine cat den, and yell at everyone how evil Starclan is.
Eveningstar comes over, and Fennelrain slashes at him— as he raised his paw to attack back, Starclan physically stopped him and showed herself in 100% intensity to Fennelrain
-> Cloverbelly fades away
Fennelrain is directed to the Moonstone, where she talks with Starclan… here she is basically yelled at back to her sense, and realizes how important she is. Starclan is fully protecting her, no matter if she likes it or not
So she stops taking Darkforest poppy seeds, stops talking to Cloverbelly and is now “cursed” with physical and mental pain daily. She takes regular poppy seeds to cope, but they only reduce it to 50% intensity.
She is cursed to live longer then her father, mother, and even some of her younger siblings.
But, she does train an apprentice… Wrenkit.
Wrenkit is naturally very smart, and was the first cat to actually see past her struggles. He believes everything Fennelrain says, about her pain and visions, and cares for her.
Nothing really happens until Fennelrain is a really, really old Elder; Wrencall sets her up with curious kits, who don’t know about her past as she tells stories.
The other clans Medicine cats are all fond of Fennelrain, and respect her deeply. Wrencall is like a son to her.
All the love and support she craved as a young cat is given to her, almost as a way of Starclan saying sorry for such a hard life.. then, she passes away peacefully, a day or so after managing up all her strength to see the Moonstone one last time
