i was thinking about why richie demanded so much attention from his friends and the people around him, and i’m bringing back my headcanon that richie has a younger sister who took basically all of his parents attention away from. they’re not neglectful or absent or anything, he’s just used to getting all of them all the time, so when the baby came around, he started having to get that attention from other people ie. the losers, his peers, etc.

that being said, richie did have the best parents out of the bunch, and they were always happy to have any of the kids over when they needed to get away from their own homes.
