Fanciful Fox I used to be really apprehensive about digital drawing, but I learned it has been holding me back, especially with color. I drew this fox in the tablet app Procreate. I think I’m pulling from a few influences here, but this is a start.

Since 2015 I have challenged myself to draw in a holiday season theme every day of December leading up to Christmas. This can be anything from a quick doodle, or hours of work. They don’t need to be perfect, but I have to finish the drawings. This gallery shows my drawings from 2017.

What I Wore Today is a great drawing exercise when you are feeling creatively blocked. The idea started as a Flickr group created by artist/illustrator Gemma Correll.

The Living Book
One thing I love to do is collaborate with creative people on exhibits. For the Library Company’s most recent exhibition, The Living Book : New Perspectives on Form and Function, I was given a chance to stretch my creative muscles and really bring these books to life in the Library’s first film installation on display in the main…

When in doubt, go to the library
When in doubt, go to the library
One of my favorite things about my [day] job is how it inspires my artwork. From maps, to printmaking techniques, to nature studies, they all manage to work their way into my pieces somehow. I am especially lucky when I can be creative at work. One of my jobs is managing our collections-based social media with my colleague and work-wife Arielle Middleman. Together we took a GIF workshop so we can…

Hydepark and a new look When in London last year we took a walk in Hydepark and came across a lot of official looking horses running in formation, riders too, but I focused on the horses.
Meet Phoebe Anne Ridgway Rush, our resident ghost. Phoebe first haunted the stacks of our Ridgway building - named for her family, and built with her fortune, which was bequeathed by her husband, James Rush, after her death. Both James and Phoebe’s remains rested in the foundation of the Ridgway Building, and when the LCP moved to its current home, their remains moved with us. Some say Phoebe rests peacefully now, but if the stacks are rearranged with no explanation, we know who is responsible. #librariesarethespiceoflifeordeath #LCPinsider
Glasgow grit in greyscale The view from on top of the Lighthouse is pretty great. Glasgow has an urban grit that I've heard many compare to Philly. Do you think they are right?
It isn’t over till it’s over. Looks like an "end scene" shot, well it was our last full day in Glasgow. Glasgow has a lot of cool stuff hidden away in alleys. This was from the top of The Lighthouse, a center for design and architecture, and hilarious washroom signs.
