DOCTOR WHO | Boom Town
Boom Town (S1 E11) is such a Doctor Who ass episode
Silly chase scene down hallways that ends in a goofy teleporter standoff where the enemy keeps trying to run away but just gets teleported closer and closer? Check.
Moment where the Doctor has a very serious, very intense conversation about self-idealized morality over a fancy dinner that is functioning as a last meal for said enemy before being condemned for all the murder and crime she very much did do? Check.
Time shenanigans that end with the enemy turning into an egg so she can get another chance at life without the whole “raised in a crime murder family” thing? Check.
Oh, and said enemy being a big silly green alien who is very clearly just a person in a rubber suit? Double check.
Like could all that happen in another show? Maybe. But it is such a Doctor Who ass plot even if I was making it up (I'm not, but if I was) you'd need to check.
Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert in Boom Town (1940)
Wardrobe // Rose Tyler (Billie Piper) // Doctor Who Seasons 1-2 & 4 (2005-2006, 2008) + specials
Boom Town is so good. Boom Town begins with the doctor explaining that in the 60s, police telephone boxes were used to phone the cops and keep prisoners locked inside until backup came. The doctor is prepared to deliver Blon to her planets law enforcement, knowing perfectly well that she will be given the death penalty and publicly executed. Does she deserve it? Who decides who deserves what? Is state sanctioned punishment the right thing to do? Can you run away from the harm you cause?
