Running a brainstorming session for Project 2. 15 minutes.
Leading students through (product) storyboarding. GA Product Mgmt. Week 2.
My GA Product Students doing a down & dirty prioritization.
PM planning. A lot goes into planning our courses but there's no replacement for the good ol' white board...
We asked our general assembly product management students to do sketches around "what are the product management tools and techniques and how do you see them applied". Awesome
Like the trend of putting “ADD” buttons on the bottom of the screen on mobile apps where thumbs can easily reach them. Now that’s good UX.
Yesterday I taught my students prototyping using Balsamiq and InVision. Awesome to see how empowered my students feel after learning something new. Check it out here -Â https://invis.io/8D4A0W74H
A quick lesson I did on spread vs. reach based models & strategies for distribution and acquisition.
My market model to demonstrate the difference between knowing market potential vs. market entry (entering and capturing a niche). M = market, S = segment, N = niche - it's not about capturing 1% of a market, it's about capturing 80-90% of a niche and moving up from there.
Leisure is an indispensable ingredient in a growing consumer market because working people need to have enough free time to find uses for consumer products, including automobiles.
Henry Ford,Â
Love this visual explanation done by one of our General Assembly product mgmt. students to capture the iterative nature of product mgmt and how these aren't deliverables but tools.
Sketching out part of a lesson presentation for product class at General Assembly. I'm a big fan of wireframing/sketching so you can start to get a sense of information design and flow.
I find humans endlessly imaginative. I love tech but the truth is for me is that tech itself isn’t imaginative - and it’s imagination that makes for the most amazing things. yaay humans.
For all you storytellers out there here is a great video from Bob Mankoff at TED explaining the anatomy of a New Yorker cartoon. It's also a great video about contrast, tension, context etc - and how all of these affect storytelling and humor (and determines what makes something funny - or not)
Kurt Vonnegut on the shapes of stories - this was introduced to me by an instructor at General Assembly.
This was kinda brilliant and played on essentially the fact that while everyone would like to read big important books no one is really going to. Sonic let people post the book title and would give a summary in 10 words or less.
