Mothman

Where's the RAID®?!-----🍷 On November 15, 1966 the first recorded sighting of the Mothman had taken place by two young couples from Point Pleasant, Roger and Linda Scarberry and Steve and Mary Mallette, told police they saw a large grey creature whose eyes "glowed red" when the car's headlights had lied its lights on the being. They had described it as a large man with ten foot wings. Two volunteer men who claim they had seen the beast say it was large with bright red eyes. Mason County Sheriff George Johnson commented that he believed the sightings were due to an unusually large heron he termed a "shitepoke". Contractor Newell Partridge told Johnson that when he aimed a flashlight at a creature in a nearby field its eyes glowed "like bicycle reflectors", and blamed buzzing noises from his television set and the disappearance of his German Shepherd dog on the creature. The reports kept coming in for the years time, over a 100 reports were reported but when the Silver Bridge collapsed in December 15 1967 with the resulting death of 46 people the reports began to die down except the one alleged picture of the Mothman on the bridge moments before the collapse. Near the 50th anniversary of the Mothman sightings, over the course of the silence of half a century, new pictures were sighted of the Mothman but many believe it's just an owl holding a snake or something of the sort. Festivals of the Mothman began in 2001 and is on its annual 17th anniversary this September as of 8/22/2018 in Point Pleasant New Jersey. The world's only Mothman museum is also found here.

Mary King’s Close

You have been evicted-----🍷 The Mary King's close was a subterranean city that had fallen vicitim to the black plague and over time has been fed urban legends and interleaved into the areas culture. It is located in Edinburgh, Scotland. The term close is a scot's term for an alleyway but it is also private property, "closed from the public." The close takes the name from Mary King who was a merchant burgess that also happened to be a widow who made this place her home in 1635. The tenements here made homes for all social classes and these are regarded as the world's first skyscrapers. This area had been enormously unsanitary and as the rats and fleas kept coming in diseases spread quicker inside the doors of the people who resided here. Dr. George Rae was the place's plague doctor during the time of the bubonic plague in Edinburgh, Scotland. He saved lives by using a scorching hot poker on the buboes. White rags would be left on the doors of plague victims to indicate if they needed food, water, or coal. Dr. George Rae stayed for a decade, when he had collected his wealth life went on in the Mary King's close. The tenement closed its doors in 1735 when overpopulation crept in, the building was decaying, and politics made it difficult to run the business. Merchants and traders moved from the street and into the close, as well as national records resided in this building. In 1835 a chunk of the building had been torn down to make room for a street to be built. -----🍷 In 2008, a photo taken by accident is now considered solid proof that the Close is haunted. Late one Saturday night, the general manager, Stephen Spencer was checking an infrared camera installed to take pictures of tour groups as souvenirs. As Spencer stood in the street he snapped several photos, he then returned to his office to turn the computer system off. He looked at the photos he had taken and realized that one of them had captured an interesting image. Many reports have been made of seeing the same translucent being standing in the end of the hallway. One of the most famous ghosts supposed to live here is a ten year old girl named Annie who died of the plague. Believers report temperature changes and feeling a strange presence in her room. Many have left toys, dolls, and sweets for her in the close.

Haunted Dolls

Mom said it's my turn to play with the doll-----🍷 A Haunted Doll is some sort of toy that has been cursed, hexed, or have some traumatic emotion or energy stored with it. Haunted Dolls have been recorded all the way back to Ancient Egypt to Ramessess III. They were wax statues who have said that they would curse anyone who borne the likeness of the statue. Voodoo Dolls have also been dragged into this fate as well. -----🍷 Robert The [Enchanted] doll This doll is allegedly curse and the famous movie star doll ,Chucky, had taken its inspiration from him. The original owner of this doll was a Bohemian man who practiced black magic in 1906 and had gifted it to Robert Eugene Otto. Otto's parents had often heard him talking to the doll. His parents say he was just answering himself back in a different voice but their assumptions quickly change to the doll was talking back. Their neighbors claim to see the doll moving in the windows whenever the family was gone. Otto had passed away in 1974. [Do to Robert the doll not liking his picture taken and allegedly cursing those who have taken a picture without him giving permission I will not post his picture.] -----🍷 Amelia the doll The doll's eyes turned from blue to this glowing green. After that occurred, supposedly, haunting began happening in a home. The woman who had owned the doll with blue eyes has claimed that when the eyes changed colors on their own she began hearing a baby crying in the middle of the night. The doll had passed hands and eventually came into the hands of a man who had admired the paranormal. The very first day he had received Amelia he was leaving for work and locked the door. He heard a rather loud sound come from the inside of the house, he had went back inside to check and nothing seemed to of happened. The next day, all the same steps happened again. The routine happened over and over again but there was nothing to explain for it. One night he was watching T.V. but he heard the loud sound but this time it was in the hallway and he had gotten up to go check the hallway. He saw the doll standing against the door facing away from him. He walked over and brought her into his bedroom and pla

He looked at the shelf and he saw her sitting there, waving, giggling, smiling at him and all the while her eyes were glowing green. -----🍷 Annabelle She is a raggedy Anne doll that has been studied profusely by demonologists. Her story relatively starts when Ed and Lourraine Warren made claims of the doll acting weird so they had hired a psychic medium to investigate her. The Medium had said the doll was kept with the spirit of a dead girl named Annabelle Higgins. The family tried to nurture and care for the spirit-inhabited doll but the doll had grown evil and malicious towards the family. The doll had been seen slumped against furniture of its own accord, changed around the bedroom at night, and would leave messages on paper. The doll then had tried to strangle a friend named Lou. The family had exorcised the doll but the exorcism proved to no avail as it had escaped locked boxes. The doll now resides in a specially designed box to keep the doll and the spirit within. Supposedly tourists who taunt the doll in its presence all end up in a near-dead accident.

Rippavilla

Tear down and rebuild, even after death.-------🍷 The history of this place commenced on December 6th 1818 when the founder Nathaniel Frances Cheairs IV was born. When Nathaniel was a young adult he had met a woman named Miss Susan Peters McKissack, daughter of Master William McKissack II. He wished to marry Miss Susan but Nathaniel III had a rule. All Nathaniel's must marry A Sarah, and she was a Susan. The want for tradition was so strong that Nathaniel IV was offered $5,000 in gold to find a bride named Sarah. Nathaniel decided to marry Susan. Due to Nathaniel IV following through and marrying Susan he was offered by his father-in-law offered Nathaniel all the brick and slave labor he needed to build his home. Nathaniel III eventually conceded and let the marriage happen. On September 2nd 1841 was the date the two married, and received $5,000 in gold as a gift. For the first ten years of their marriage, Nathaniel and Susan lived in two-story log cabin located on the back of the property. It was in that cabin that Susan gave birth to three of their four children. In 1851, the Cheairs completed construction on a smokehouse and kitchen house. In 1852 the Cheairs had begun the construction on what is now the Rippavilla mansion. The family lived above the kitchen house in that time until 1855 when the mansion had finished. Soon after Susan gave birth to their 4th and last child in the mansion. The family lived happily in the house until 1861 at the start of the Civil War. -------🍷 In the Civil War the house had been used as a Hospital and a Headquarters for the Confederates and the Union soldiers. On November 29th 1864 the Union soldiers had crept through in the night and snuck through the barricaded highway in front of the Rippavilla mansion. When the Confederates were alarmed there was a battle outside the house with 850 total deaths right outside the house. -------🍷 Jeannette Cheairs, one of the five children born to Nathaniel Francis and Susan Cheairs of Rippavilla, which is reported to be haunted. It is reported that she will turn the nursery light on and off and has been spotted as an apparition going down and up the stairs, she has also been spotted walking down the main upstairs hallway. Other things that have been reported are sounds and flashes of light that can only be described as cannons.

Chairty Hospital

Hope you get well soon! -----🍷 The Charity Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana was founded on May 10 in 1736 by Jean Louis, who was a sailor and ship builder who also a died a year before. Until 2005, this place was the second longest and continuosly opened public hospital in the U.S.A. For 270 years, the charity cared for the poor, victims of crime, and fire accidents. It had an excellent reputation as a teaching institution and Charity's emergency room boasted one of the best level one trauma units in the country. Unfortunately when Hurricane Katrina had hit, its doors had closed soon after. The building has become a symbol of corruption and disillusionment with the city's government and their poor handling of the hurricane. -----🍷 Someone had seen Christmas lights on one of the many floors, 12 years after the building had been forgotten and start to wear down. The story was spread around so much that the police had to end up investigating the building. -----🍷 Some souls that haunt this building have been assumed to be identified here; Sister Stanislaus (who greeted Presidents and dealt with a gunman), and even founder Jean Louis are known to still haunt the halls of Charity Hospital today. The gravestone in the picture reads "This cemetery was purchased by Charity Hospital in 1848 and was originally known as Potter's Field. It has historically been used to bury the unclaimed from throughout the city. including the victims of several Yellow Fever and influenza epidemics. The ashes of those who have donated their remains to the Louisiana State Anatomical Board for medical education are buried here, also. Charity Hospital Cemetery is one of the most historically significant, yet least known, among New Orleans' famous Cities of the Dead."

Seances

Let's talk--------🍷 A ghost, ghoul, spectre, phantom, or a spirit these souls are simply impossible to say they completely do or do not exist! If you want to encounter one yourself, a place to start would be to do a seance. One of the earliest books of a seance is "Communication With the Other Side" by George Lyttelton published in 1760. The spirits documented in the book are Peter the Great, Pericles, William Penn, Christina the Queen of Sweden. Seances were largely unknown or downright unpopuler until the mid 1800's. ------🍷 The one who had popularized Seances would be Mary Lincoln, whom mourned the loss of her son would have Seances in the White House which were attended by our President, Abraham Lincoln. ------🍷 In order to have a Seance one must have a Medium. A Medium is one who has the gifted ability to see or communicate with the "other side." Sometimes a Medium may be fully conscious throughout the Seance, other times they may go into a trance like state. If there is not a Medium present a Ouija board, a pendulum, or even a video camera may work. The camera will be the least effective but can still pay off sometimes. Of Course before one starts a Seance these questions need to be answered before you carry on: What are your goals for the séance? What is your purpose for holding one? Is there a particular person you'd like to contact during the séance? Where will you have your séance? Who would you like to participate? Which equipment will you use? [Pendulum, Ouija board, etc.] ------🍷 To have a Seance: Go to a quiet place free of other sound, have a dark room to avoid other light stimulants that may be mistaken for spirits. If you have chosen to have a séance with a Ouija board, pendulum or some other indicator, locate it centrally. Decide who will touch the planchette or hold the pendulum. Say a Prayer to make sure God and his Angels will protect you from dark spirits and demons.

Eclipse

Since the eclipse is tomorrow here is some old wives tales and other legends of solar eclipses. Italy- It was believed in Italy that if you plant flowers during a solar eclipse the flowers will be brighter than the other flowers. Greece- The ancient Greeks believed it was a feud between the Gods and that the complete destruction of Earth was coming soon. Vietnam/Scandinavia/China - A frog/wolves/dragon would eat, chew, or inhale the sun causing the world to darken. India - Pregnant women are not allowed to go outside since they believe the baby will die, also they are not allowed to eat during a solar eclipse since they believe the food will be poisonous. Cherokee - "Long ago, the sun’s daughter was killed. She was so distraught and grieving for her daughter that the sun went dark. People knew they could not live without the sun, so they sent seven men with magical powers to bring the daughter back from the ghost land. They put her in a box and brought her back, but they were instructed not to open the box. The daughter pleaded and begged and so they lifted the lid and out came a flash of red that flew around. This is the first red bird, the cardinal, and it the reason we can’t bring anyone back from the dead. Still trying to bring back the sun, young dancers were sent to the sun. As they began dancing, the sun showed her face and balanced was restored between the upper and lower worlds."

French Catacombs

C'est la mort. ---------🍷 In the 1700s and the 1800s many Parisian cemeteries were moved to the tunnels below Paris. Many people believed how the bones are arranged is disrespectful to the dead and say the dead haunt the living for what they've done. These caves were originally made by the romans for limestones, The order for burial in these caves were by Monsieur Thiroux de Crosne, Lt. General of Police, and by Monsieur Guillaumot in 1788. During that time the Les Halles district was suffering a surplus of bodies and contamination of decay due to mass burials. Secretly, they moved the bones below Paris so the spread of disease would be slowed due to the mass graves. From the 18th century and on there's been graffiti in these catacombs as resistance to the disrespectful setup of the catacombs. In the late 1800s a group of monarchists were killed in the catacombs, and during WW2 these catacombs were part of the french resistance. (Also, only a certain 3 strains of bacteria can be found there!) ------------🍷 The catacombs of Paris were closed to the public in 2009 due to "vandalism" but it is believed some black magic users went into the catacombs to practice necromancy. It is said that if you walk in the catacombs at night the walls will talk to you, there was a documentary of a man walking in the catacombs for a week. On tape he was the only voice on the record, many think it might be the strain of bacteria causing him to hallucinate. Was there really a voice luring him down that was just out of reach for his microphone? We won't know. I mentioned necromancy before, a lot of the occult practice sacrifice in these catacombs. If the bones are not in the wall it is safe to say those were bones of someone's sacrifice. Usually nearby to these bones there are markings that have been dated to be fairly recent, it is occult symbols that have been made by cults and the dark spirits they've allegedly summoned. It is recommended not to stay in the catacombs too long as it can cause madness and insanity. Many reports say that even though they've left the caves they felt an ominous spirit follow them where they go.

Witches

Witches can give you more than stitches. -----------🍷 Witch craft is seen through every culture, it is seen as "manipulating the powers of god" or "seducing demons" they're all the same. During the Middle Ages until the mid 1900's European witches were rejects of society, they mostly practiced dark arts and haunted the ones they hated the most. Pure black cats are considered omens of bad luck, familiars of witches, or just a witch shape-shifted as a cat. Black cat can act as a spy for witches and demons. These beliefs were rooted in the Pilgrims of Plymouth Rock believing everything was sin and the devil. If you were caught owning a black cat you'd be accused a witch or demon worship and be sent to your death. A witch's appearance in Middle Ages and mid 1900's was generally a relatively attractive woman with long hair. These were often considered witches, for women's envy of their good lucks, men sleeping with them and regretting it so they will say they were under their spell, etc. Through rumors it was said that a witch with long hair attracts and seduces demons to her, and that when she sleeps with the demon she has made a pact with said demon and will draw her magic from it. Side note: witches are crazy, most witches modern day outlawed this but some in Western Africa have his thing where they have a gun and will shoot somebody. This has been an old European practice of witches adopted by African tribes, essentially what it does is that it kills the soul without harming the body, said person will die of a heart attack shortly after with no known causes. This stems from the Catholic Church outlawing gunpowder when it was first sent to Europe, so witches would mess with gunpowder and use it for a lot of their incantations and summonings. Also, in Africa nowadays they just use a real gun and bullet and say it's one of those witch guns.

Hell fire club

These caves underground societies had lit a flame into every main government at the height of their power. ----------🍷 The history started out as mining caves during the 1700s. These caves were proposed by Sir Francis, during his time as Chancellor. The people of this area were vastly unemployed and the creation of these caves were paid one shilling a day to combat the poverty that had lurked. The miners would provide material for a new main road between High Wycombe and West Wycombe. This road ran through the bottom of a valley that many carriages had broken or rolled over, especially during the wet weather. This road would take you close to the church that these caves lied below. These caves were proposed by Sir Francis, during his time as Chancellor. These tunnels twisted and turned without a pattern, and the tunnels would lead to a relatively large room that people believe that "mischief and fun" had taken place in that room. The room is clearly symbolic of the Elusinian mysteries of Ancient Greece. It is known that the secret society of these caves that slumbered beneath a church practiced anti-religious acts of blood sacrifice and overindulgence of lust. The painter of the Church that Sir Francis had brought from Italy did not partake in these acts and was not aware of this secret society's existence. The society would conduct its meetings by gorging themselves with food and wine, then go upstairs to the church and run mock church services to insult the Roman Catholic Church that Sir Francis detested so much. --------🍷 These caves are considered one of the most haunted sites in Britain. One of the ghosts that reside here that are said to haunt these caves is one of the Founding Fathers of the USA, Benjamin Franklin. Another spirit that resides in these caves is a man named Paul Whitehead, when he had died he had wanted his heart to be placed in an urn and be kept in the mausoleum at West Wycombe but allegedly an American soldier and stole it, so his spirit haunts the caves. Another tale of a spirit that resides here is a little girl named Suki. She was tricked by the man she was intended to marry, to go to the caves,

She had been killed there by kids throwing stones at her and a rather large stone had hit her in the head; it is said she roams the banqueting hall where she was killed in. A tourist says that they have caught a picture of Suki and it the apparition of the figure follows what the descriptions say. The extent of paranormal activity that happens here is strong visible apparitions, light orbs, and sometimes low audible talking that is hard to understand.

Bell Witch Ghost

When you see this cave you feel as if you are under its spell. -------------🍷 The Bell Witch Cave is located in Adams, Tennessee, United States of America. The cave is named and by the former Bell farm. Oddly tours are given here during the summer and ends in October. The cave is 450 ft or 150m. -------------🍷 It was the early 1800s, The spirit that resides in this cave is the infamous Bell Witch herself, Kate Batts. She was considered to be a rather mean neighbor of the Bell family. Kate Batts feel that John Bell had swindled her from the land. When she had died she vowed to haunt John Bell and all of his descendants. In 1817, as the tale goes, an evil came into the Bell farm. This evil would keep the Bell family up late at night with strange, unholy sounds, would attack and beat the Bell family members, and ultimately killed John Bell himself. This evil still and a heart: there was a boy exploring the farm, him and his friends had found a cave. The tale goes that the boy had fallen in the cave and had his ankle stuck. His friends didn't know what to do and weren't able to rescue the boy so they abandoned him. Supposedly, the ghost of the Bell Witch had lifted the boy up and lectured him to not explore places recklessly. Although the good deed would make the Bell Witch seem merciful, many tourists, explorers, and paranormal investigators claim to feel uneasy and consider it to be one of the scariest places they've visited. (Side note I haven't read in any of the articles so far, supposedly the face of the bell witch is in the cave.)

Poveglia Island

The Italian Italian island of Poveglia is truly one _hell_ of a vacation. Poveglia is a small island between Venice and Lido. The island is located in Northern Italy, a small canal divides this island in two different parts. The surviving structures of this island is a hospital, a cavana, a church, a bell tower, an asylum, and housing. --------------------------🍷 During the Bubonic plague the Romans tried to slow down the spread of the disease, so that anyone that had been infected with the plague was shipped to Poveglia. Due to the mass body counts and a plague demolishing Europe, the entire island smelt of death and burning flesh from all the cremations, and that the people had mass graves. In the 1920's they decided to set up a psychiatric hospital on the island and anyone that had shown any signs of physical or mental sickness or disabilities were sent to this island to be cured. The patients reported little kids and "spirits" communicating them and drove even the physical and mentally healthy to insanity. The doctor of the island disregarded their complaints and said it was simply in their head and that they've gone ill, so he would try to rehabilitate them with brutal experiments. In the 1930's the doctor had been treating his patients as human guinea pigs, he began to grow guilt and killed himself by throwing himself off the bell tower. The locals say it's not uncommon to hear the bell ring from the deserted island even though the bell had been removed many years ago. Most reports say this island is haunted by over 200,000 plague victims and are mad about their burning and mass graves, without a proper burial on the island they seek vengeance. With the asylum also taking place on the island, there's also an unreported count of ghosts of the former patients that had gone to that asylum. Many visitors that go to the island vow on their life to never return to that island and that they have been mentally scarred for their life. Many ferry services refuse to take people to the island due to it being cursed, many boat owners avoid the island all together and avoid it at all costs. The most common experience at Poveglia is an incredible sense of being watched, almost as if you're being stalked. Thrill seekers have said they've been scratched, pushed into walls, and chased by disembodied sounds of moaning across the entire island. There have been many sightings of ghosts, including the doctor that had committed suicide on the island, and is considered to be the most violent entity on the island.

Hoia Baciu Forest

The Hoia forest is a forest known for its paranormality. It is located in Cluj county, Transylvania, Romania. It is 729 acres large. It has the the Somesçul river and the Nadăs river. In the northeastern edge of this forest had the Valea Lungă [Long Valley] This area also holds the oldest Neolithic settlement in Romania. These were found in north of the Valea Lungă. Now for the interesting part 🍷 -UFOs -Ghost Sightings -Faces appearing in photographs not able to be seen to the human eye The origins of the forest's name comes from a Shepard that was lost in the forest with his 200 sheep. People who live near the forest refuse to enter it on accounts of "Evil." The legends that have been passed down generations that tell stories of creatures in the forest. The fame to this forest is not its beauty but it's supernatural phenomenons that happen here and its tragic past. In 1960 a technician for the military had taken a photograph that can only be known as a UFO. This photograph was taken at the Poiana Rotundă (The Round Meadow) located in the forest, and the photograph was taken by Emil Barnea. Eight years earlier a scientist [Biologist] named Alexandru Sift had captured photos of light in the Hoia Forest which leaves many people confused on their origins and how they are there. Other than these many reporters have said that when they've entered the forest they feel intense anxiety and the feeling of being watched from the forest, the same or other people will leave the forest with scratches all over them and sometimes be bleeding. People say it's the bizarre vegetation that grows in forest, the trees bending almost as if they are straight from a fairytale leading them to be paranoid not realize objects hitting them. The forest is known for its ghosts, or demons, it is believed that the souls of many Romanian peasants haunt these grounds to revenge for their life being robbed from them from someone else. Accounts of green eyes watching people, faces of horror and pain, mists appearing from no where and seem to be following people, and full body apparitions have been spotted. The spot with the most intense paranormal activity is the center. The spot with the most intense paranormal activity is the center, it is known as the dead zone, no vegetation grows in this zone, it is almost a perfect circle and scientists have sampled the soil and said there should be no reason for these trees not to grow here. Habitants near by say it's where the most intense paranormal activity happens, and that the energy in the middle is so intense it blocks the vegetation to enter it. It's regarded as home for these spirits. Lastly, people believe the center of the forest is the gateway to hell or other dimensions. People have disappeared in the forest and never be seen again, or come out of the forest years later and not recall who they were.
