the theory of kris being molested by dess/noelle being spread around on twitter is really starting to piss me off. the theory itself isnāt exactly the problem- i donāt see it happening but i wouldnāt be completely shocked if it did. however i feel like the dark themes in UTDR are on a different wavelength from a child getting molested, especially after toby changed the rose animation in the ch4 thorn ring scene. if he wanted there to be some kind of implication of SA then why would he remove something that is so closely associated with it? and if you want to argue it was because of backlash, then he wouldnāt have continued with the storyline as some are implying noelleās ch5 āyou canāt even say āstopā like you used toā is in reference to.
if the subject was handled correctly i really do think it could be interesting. kris is definitely already a victim on non-sexual grooming through carol at least, so i can understand why people might jump to that conclusion. itās not an inherently bad assumption to have, especially as a knee jerk reaction to the previously mentioned noelle line. still, i personally donāt think itās whatās being implied and people are taking a single line quite far.
the reactions are the real issue with all of this. itās really fucking gross to joke about anyone, especially a kid, getting SAād, even if theyāre fictional characters. if you want to explore those themes in a creative space where it is safe and not out in the open for people who donāt want to see it to run across it, go for it. apply all the warnings to your ao3 fic and go about your day. but donāt normalize shit like this in public spaces. donāt make it into a joke. it isnāt funny. youāre weird for that.
