A Race to Run Alone
Life is so darn beautiful!
Now that being said, just because life is beautiful does not mean that it is perfect. I can think of plenty in my life that is obnoxiously out of place and chaotic, but we can not let these little things define us. We make our own definition of who were are.
Sorry to some of ya’ll out there, but sweetheart you gotta stay true to yourself! (even if you don’t know who that is!)
If this was easy we would all be ourselves, and sometimes its none other than our friends that hold us back from doing just that.
Friends are great, don’t get me wrong, but we all have that one friend (or let’s face it friends) that instill this image of being better than us. I am telling ya’ll from experience.. ditch the bitch. A friend who does not want you to succeed isn’t your friend at all. I get it, it may be hard to let go of that one friend because you may feel like you would be lost without them or have no friends at all, but you run a race a lot faster if your running it by yourself.
I used to be friends with this one girl, she was a year younger than me, and practically controlled my life. She was not a true friend, and it took me a lot of years to realize this. When I did I had lost more than 5 years of my life! (I’m 15 now) I could have went out made new friends; friends that cared, comforted, and loved me, but nope i stuck by her only to find myself hidden behind her. It was always “oh! aren’t you snickerdoddle’s friend? (not her real name)” It was like i wasn’t my own person, just her little minion in training.
God made us to be unique, if he had wanted us to be the same then there wouldn’t have been a need for the 7,311,863,180 (and rising!!) people on the planet. Someone else cannot do a job that you were meant to do! Think about it, if you were to tell your children about how you are today, would you rather say I was the shadow of that girl or say I was my own person, and no one could change that?
One more thing....... it’s OK to be alone, because truth be told, you will always have someone to be your friend. Maybe not now, but things do change. If someone is trying to slow you down it’s because you faster than them.
