could we get a backstory on your soundwave if They do have one?
Soundwave was "born" in Iacon and lived with his father Soundblaster. Soundwave barely remembers anything about his father, but most of the remaining memories are of his father rebelling against the higher ups, and him telling Soundwave about the harsh reality of Cybertron. His last memory of him is that of his father being taken away, after that moment, Soundwave was on his own.
Soundwave later began his job, working as Senator Ratbat's assistant. Senator Ratbat was a egoistical narcissistic and selfish senator, who barely bothered to care for his assistants. He was well respected amongst the rest in cybertronian government, but Soundwave despised him with every fiber of his being.
Soundwave would often come up with solutions to many of cybertron's biggest problems, and would ask Senator Ratbat to share them, in hopes of creating a better and equal Cybertron. Ratbat refused to even read the solutions, and would remind Soundwave that he was just a mere assistant, and to know his place.
Later on in his work, he stumbled across Shockwave, a young loner senator who's mind was always somewhere else.
Soundwave and Shockwave quickly became good friends, and Soundwave decided to share his ideas with Shockwave. Unlike Ratbat, Shockwave was a much less respected senator, most senators looked down upon him because of his weaknesses, including his obsessions with science, his tendency to lose focus on his job, or how he was always in a day dreamy trance while working. Although he tried to share Soundwave's ideas, no one would bother to pay attention to him.
After years of going unheard, Soundwave became tired of being treated as someone unimportant. After being dismissed by Ratbat yet again, Soundwave, angered, violently ended Ratbat's life, and attempted to escape, only to be found and captured.
As a punishment, Soundwave was sentenced to the gladiator pits of Kaon, where he would serve until fans payed enough money to buy his freedom. In the pits, Soundwave met Megatron, who at the time was nameless, D-16. He'd escaped the mines only to be caught and sent here. Soundwave quickly felt pity towards Megatron, and they became great friends, Soundwave being there to defend him, since D-16 didn't know how to fight at all. In the pits, Soundwave became more and more violent, his ideas for a better Cybertron included getting rid of higher ups in a violent way. D-16 was always there however to drive him away from those thoughts, even to this day.
After both left the gladiator arena, he offered Megatron the option of taking him to live in Iacon, where Soundwave met up with Shockwave again, and met Orion Pax, a new friend of Shockwave's. Soundwave never got too attached to Orion, especially since Orion was Alpha Trion's adoptive son, and Soundwave had grown to hate Primes. His distance with Orion grew even more when he found out that Orion was to become the next prime after Sentinel, who Soundwave despised the most. Tension between Orion and Soundwave grew more and more afterwards.
When the war started, Megatron originally wanted Soundwave to become the leader, but Soundwave refused and instead offered to be his most loyal sidekick and friend, keeping an eye on anyone who tried to harm him.
How he got the cassettes/companions
Ravage: not a cassette, but Soundwave's companion. Soundwave found Ravage in one of cybertron's many dumps (trash is disposed of by either burning or shooting it up into one of cybertron's moons, since some wild inhabitants like scraplets use it as a form of food). Ravage was a damaged battle robo-cat, which were used as entertainment or for soldiers, Soundwave rescued him before he was disposed of. He's been extremely loyal to Soundwave, and later on becomes the decepticon mascot, and currently lives a quiet life mostly inside the decepticon's ship after years of service alongside the decepticons.
Rumble and Frenzy: around mid way into the war, Soundwave visited one of Cybertron's wrecked and abandoned cities, where two abandoned little mini bots were found. Soundwave pitied them and took the baby bots in.
Lazerbeak: Lazerbeak was a wild Robo-bird who was used for experiments in one of cybertron's many harsh labs. Soundwave found the him in a wrecked lab where Lazerbeak was trapped in one of the many cages. He was the only one to survive out of the other test subjects in that wrecked lab. Soundwave quickly took him in and cared for him. Lazerbeak has been a very loyal sidekick and works as a spy.
