i rewatched "nightmare on elm street" today and it gave me an interesting idea for an original world. at least, a loose concept.

people that can go to sleep in our world and shift into the dream world to fend off nightmares that threaten peoples' wellbeing. only a select few people can do it, though. considering how many people are in the world, it's still a large number, but it's still pretty few in comparison to the entire population.

bonus thought: since the earth rotates around the sun and it's daytime in some parts of the world while being nighttime in others, the people on one side are tasked with fighting nightmares on the opposite side.
