Coffee from Cafe Libre in Myeongdong Cathedral Latte from Cafe Libre in Hongdae

Got an ethiopian(?) pour over in Cafe Libre thats connected to Myeongdong Cathedral. Was very good, no real complaints. Just a solid cup of coffee.

Got a Latte at Cafe Libre in Hongdae, which is the original location, and it was just mindblowing. Super soft and silky. Sweet without it being cloying like a starbucks drink. Amazing mouthfeel. I drank the whole thing in a few minutes while walking around and contemplated walking back to get more (but decided against it due to LACTOSE INTOLERANCE ARGH). This was the best latte that I have ever had, ever. It reminded me of a latte version of the cappuchino I had in Gimmee Coffee in Soho NYC, which was also my first realization at how delicious a milk drink could be.

If there are destination restaurants, there should also be destination cafes. Cafe Libre in Hongdae is one of them

Ethiopian Yirgacheffe at Coffeest

Best yirg I've had in Korea, maybe ever. Clean, bold, bright flavors. Not watery like some of the other coffees I've had recently. Only bad thing is that its a bit out of the way for me, so I don't think I would have this that often. :(

Ethiopian Loma Tasha from 나무사이로 Coffee Company

Super yummy. Not as good as the blueberry coffee I had yesterday but a fine example of what an Ethiopian coffee is supposed to taste like.

Coffee of the day (some Costa Rica single origin thing) at 커피볶는곰 (Coffee Roasting Bear)

Was a very good cup of coffee. A bit light on the body but very tasty. The owner(?) gave me a sample of a new roast that he got (Ethiopian Sidamo Guji Kercha Natural G1) and that was crazy good. Tasted like blueberries and was just totally awesome. Best coffee I had in Korea (and in recent memory) by far. I got a cup of it to go brewed in the Dragon but it was not as good as it was on the Bunn Trifecta.

7.5/10 for the Coffee of the day 10/10 for the Ethiopian

Free refill from the same place. Not as nice as the Kenyan but still very palatable. Taste dies pretty quickly but still not bad.

Kenya Drip Coffee from Cofffee Studio Co.

I heard about this place a few times online and most people had nice things to say so I was pretty excited to go here.

The drip cost 6500w with no discount for take out (which is a bummer). It's a very nice place. Lots of couples. Very cool interior. But the coffee was just OK. Not a bad cup but not a great one.

Kenya AA pourover at Coffee Lei in Daechi dong

Small cafe in Daechidong near the dunkin donuts. Overroasted but not too unpleasant. Free refills too!

Very nice place. Students studying nearby. Barista/owner? is super nice and made my coffee quickly.

CNN Cafe in Yeoksam

This seems to be the only CNN Cafe in the world.

Looks to be made for customers to study with a bit of coffee. Outlets and headphone jacks with CNN within the tables. I kind of expected it to be nicer for some reason, but it was not.

Coffee was mediocre. Same as any other chain in Seoul. Tasted old and burnt. Not much else to say.

Caffe Pascucci in Apujeoung

I did not know that Caffe Pascucci is an extremely old cafe chain based in Italy. Within Korea, it seems to be managed by the same group that owns Paris Baguette.

Nice interior and comfy seating. They seem to push the Italian aspect a lot here.

The coffee was what I expected. Over roasted and ashy, and very little varietal notes.

Think Coffee in Apgujeong

I was very happy to come across Think Coffee since I had mostly good experiences with Think Coffee in NYC. I got their standard drip blend coffee.

Tasted clean, and mild (American mild, not Korean mild). No real problems and I would totally have this again.

As an aside, they had bagels and cream cheese there as well. The baristas had a bit of a problem working the toaster but tasted good. Seemed like standard supermarket bagels, but I was totally ok with that :)
