If they weren't so traumatized we would actually get the extroverted version of Nico. The "I don't actually care what comes out of my mouth, I just run it." Version of him. And the "I have no idea what people think of me whenever I say something so I just keep shut." Version of Will.
Their dynamics would be switched. Nico would be so genuinely annoying towards Will. But Will has learned how to tolerate him through his relationship with him.
At some point their confession would be like:

Nico grounds Will. Stopping him from floating too high up into his head.
Will lifts Nico up to his feet, whenever Nico feels like the earth is swalling him whole and under.
Like one who touches the sky, and the other who can reach deep into the earth. Both balance each other out, to stand on both of their feet. Helping each other to lift and to ground.

People fight about it often. some streaks are platinum blonde , others are light brown , some are ginger (do not call me a red head i will hunt you down ) it's a bit green rn (from lots of chlorine ) .
It's like someone took really light hair and dyed it really unevenly in different shades, but the general consensus is dirty blonde / honey blonde depending on if I've showered recently

nico having sensory issues makes so much sense to me. matched with the constant overbearingness of existing in the land of the living and the dead, all the mortal senses must overwhelm him. the constant ringing of other’s heartbeats in his ears with the excessive chatter of camp half-blood, sand against his skin that feels like grave dirt, everyone fading between their human bodies and essence of their soul in his vision. it must be hell.
You ever think Will would notice it and bring out a blindfold and noise-cancelling headphones with white noise to do the trick? (White noise is to stop unwanted thoughts going through Nico's head.)
