my story/main sources&leads
Hi! Im Cas! Here i'll be documenting what I can find about &hopefully get more people to care about this short film, 'Arc of a Bird', written and directed by Hugh Schulze, Staring David Dastmalchian, Rachel Sondag, & Guy Massey (source-https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1333978/?ref_=mv_close)
How did I get here? through a series of events along the lines of watching a movie or two, stumbling across the blog @polkadotjohnson, seeing them talk about a movie called 'Cass' (also written and directed by Hugh Schulze), thinking "oh woah thats my name lolol bro i should watch it", watching it, sitting in dead silence for 30 minutes (not an overexaggeration) after watching it because i was so enamored&shook by it (a reaction only the FNAF movie & I saw the tv glow have been able to get out of me), going back to polkadotjohnson’s blog, seeing them talk about a movie called ‘Arc of a bird’, also written by Hugh Schulze, also with the same artist character Joshua, also played by David Dastmalchian who was in Cass, that was a prequel to the movie that just SHOOK me, only to find out that the movie is LOST MEDIA…currently(hopefully not forever fingers crossed) unable to watch ANYWHERE… safe to say that drove me up a wall, and so now im making a tumblr blog about it
Main sources/leads I ask that anyone reading this (so like prolly noone but idk) doesn’t send any emails to anyone here until 10/11/25, as I have been this past week, and I don’t want to ruffle any feathers (...get it…cus this film…is about…a bird) Also all of this is copied and pasted from a google doc I’ve been working on so sorry for any errors or weird shorthand, if you need clarification lmk! Personal commentary will be in parentheses as always

---Black cat films vimeo clip,”Uploaded on Dec 2, 2014 at 9:14 pm’ ‘(Narrative Short) A documentary film crew pieces together details of an artist's disappearance through interviews and archival footage. Director: Hugh Schulze Editor: Sharon Zurek Executive Producer: Elizabeth Donius Producer: Stacey Evenson”
https://www.blackcatfilm.net/index.html ---blackcatfilms/AOAB editor/Sharon Zurek website (I've sent a email to her on 10/2, cus if anyone was to still have any random footage somewhere, it'd be the editor of the film. yet to hear a response)
https://arcofabird.com/ ---AOAB.LLC website (site of Hugh Schulze, maddeningly no info on AOAB even tho the site is named after it, although very minor more info found in wayback machine, ill detail the various dead ends from the machine in a later post)
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1333978/fullcredits/?ref_=tt_cst_sm ---AOAB imdb (either wildly inaccurate or just shows a completely different part of the film, which is 100% possible since I only know like 1/11th of it. Whats weirdest is the photos listed with it. Both because for many of the people who worked on the film, its their only credit and so ive seen the images 100000000s of times, and because outside of being able to see Joshua's art studio in the BG behind one of them, they seem to have 0 connection to the film, most notably by how GOOD the image quality is???)
https://edhinkleystudio.com/about-ed-hinkley/ ---About Hinkley STUDIOsite (ed hinkley is the guy who did all (probably all) of the art for AOAB and most (i think) of Joshua's crazy house art in Cass. this is his Studio site, a few BTS photos of AOAB (maybe more? I haven't been 1000% thorough))
https://edhinkley.com/ ---Hinkley FINEARTsite (okay this one is maybe my best find, under "award-winning films" lists a BUNCH of scans of both art from Cass & AOAB)
https://cassthemovie.com/ ---Cass the movie site (my starting point, although AOAB is only mentioned maybe once in the directors blog and is obviously not the main focused of the site, it was my jumping off point for research, most notably i found Hinkley though it)
