The recent PredatorxVish situation exposed that something insidious has been rotting away in Sky's player base for a long while now. In my honest opinion, I'm not even surprised as something like this was bound to happen with how TGC has been allowing it to fester for so long. In my opinion, it is also deeply tied with the long standing misconception that Sky: Children of the Light is a "dating" game (warning: mentions of child grooming, abuse)
For context: A Sky Creator Troupe member, PredatorxVish has been recently outed as a child predator. Apparently, they have been grooming a minor for the past 2 years. After this got out, TGC quickly kicked them out. One might think that this is the end of the story, but it isn't. It is only a symptom of a problem which has been going on for a long time now.
Players have been complaining about creeps in the game for YEARS now. There are endless talks online about how creepy players kept harassing them while they were playing. This is coming from someone who too has had their run with a creepy player back in 2024. Surprise surprise, barely little to no steps have been taken regarding that. After the latest incident, many more victims are coming out regarding their own experiences and how TGC did nothing to help despite being reported and whatnot.
This is made worse by the fact that:
1. Most of the playerbase consists of minors.
2. Many still think that Sky is a dating game
Hell, this has become a running joke at this point. I've read many stories of players ending up in uncomfortable situations where a minor player would walk up to them and ask them for a date. This has its own fair share of horror stories as well. Yet TGC has done PRACTICALLY NOTHING TO DEBUNK THIS MISCONCEPTION.
As Sky reaches it's 7th anniversary, TGC really needs to start giving a damn about the game and it's players
