Loath as he was to admit it, Soren was grateful for the stack of books he had been left, as well as the…content, of most of them.

He had found a comfortable place to sit down with them, hoping to be left alone until their next march.

This one was particularly raunchy, and while he was certainly enjoying it, he loathed the idea of being caught reading it. However, he missed the quiet foot falls of the thief behind him, noticing too late that he was not alone.

He had not been in this strange army for long, but he had already gotten his bearing quickly enough. However, he intended to re-claim his role as tactician, even if it was to be a shared duty this time around. 

The stakes for this war were high, after all, and if there was any way he could prevent even one death, he would see it as a success. As something Ike would have been proud of.

To that end, he had attempted to hunt down the current tactician- locating him in his tent.

“Excuse me. You are this army’s tactician….correct?”

“Yes Mother, I am well aware of how dangerous my actions were, but to be fair I was in a panic. The risk I took was calculated, and I proved I am not utterly terrible at math. Punish me however, I do not regret it-” Soren paused- something about his word choice seemed off...he could not place what, immediately, though.

Soren frowned over his notes, his brow furrowing enough to give him a headache, should he keep the expression on his face for too long. With a huff, he closed them again, glowering at the staff laying opposite him. His head shot up at the first sign of noise- his eyes meeting Mist’s, and his eyes softened a hair. “Mist, good timing. Might I have a moment of your time?”

“Come now Ike, really.” Soren spoke with a sense of pride, his chest puffing up minutely beside him.

It was to be his first night on cooking duty, after years of asking for the chance to put his theorem to the test. He was almost excited for it- “How hard could cooking really be? Its simply following a formula, written down for you. If I could master wind magic, with reagents, I can cook without difficulty.”

“I am no such thing. This book is just....very well written. Superbly so. And it is making me feel things.” A tiny huff left him, as he set the book aside, hoping that he didn’t stop to assess which novel it was. Or at least, that he couldn’t see what genre it was- Though the cover made little attempt to disguise its content...
