It Ends With Us - Review

This book hurts.

It both starts and ends painfully. It has all the genre that was mixed together beautifully. Resulting in an unexplainable unpredictable plot.

I started the books with a lot of expectations. Mainly for the main characters. I was rooting for them and for how they express their emotions. Their chemistry felt real and relatable. Their lines felt imaginable. 

Before the second half of the book, I was actually rooting for Ryle; and a bit confused about Lily’s emotion. I thought she was the wrong one. But it didn't took me long to take back my words. I was disgusted. 

Altas, on the other hand, may be very kind and loyal. But, isn’t that what significant others must do? Isn’t it the bare minimum? He was sweet for being that loyal to Lily, and I also felt sorrow knowing he waited that long and what he’d done just for Lily to be happy. He was a way better man than Ryle, and he was a perfect half for Lily.

The part of her with Altas also triggers my anxiety, especially when he was in her childhood house despite such little times before the parents comes home. The memories shown by a letter to “Ellen” felt very relatable in a way. But in some, there are may be parts that makes it seem “long” and isn’t too interesting because it doesn’t do much to the plot. But overall, it's unique and fun to read.

For me, in this story we should focus on Lilly. How abusive a relationship can be. How hard a trauma can affect a person. We should focus on these aspects rather than the romance. The romance on the story may gave us butterflies, but it doesn't change the fact that this book was mainly about abuse; and the romance was just a side-kick. 

By this story, we should realize there are still, many abusive victims out there that needs out help. We can see the emotions felt by maybe some of those victims from Lily. 

This book tells a lot of genre indeed, but the most important and (should be) the most impactful one is their moral story about abuse; in relationships or as a trauma.

Paper Towns by John Green Review

I found this book at a book sale. I heard people said that this book is so bad but I don’t really think so. Here’s why.

It IS quite boring and too monotone without any plot that makes you go “WOW” . I mean,, it’s like another normal teenage book but with a little bit of spice.

And that spice is the poetry stuff it includes that may or may not make you relate to it and the best of friendship you could ever imagine and also the adventure itself that is not too much fantasy and is quite relatable especially if you are a teenager in high school.

But the thing that stuck to my heart the most is the described definition of “leaving” by the main character of the book. It is the point of the book where I started to not stop reading until the end in just one sitting. Because I never knew “leaving” could be like that and I know that I am too scared to “leave” and I’m in my point of live where I wanted to leave but too scared.

This story is a light-story, which means you don’t have  to think hard and gives all your energy to read it ( fun fact : this is even my bedtime story for a couple of days ) It is recommended for you that doesn’t want to red a big plot, but rather a nice, long story. 

This book also has a “lesson” that is to enjoy your youth. It may seem weird to not attend the most awaited party and/or event on your high school days. But then again, it’s the small things that counts. And also some selfishness in a friend group that makes you realize it what makes your friend group “ours” 

But the minus part is there is many unnecessary part in the story that makes the story long and quite boring at first. And the plot is not worth the adventure.

Overall, I gave this book a 7/10 and I expect more.

All The Bright Places Review

This is a very honest review from my very own personal opinion.

I finished this book in approx. 3 days. I felt butterfly in my stomach until I nearly cried in just one sitting.

At the first few pages, it may seem a little bit boring and it just feels like another basic teen love story with no plots whatsoever and it just didn’t go anywhere. But as you started to read the first few POVs of Violet Markey and Theodore Finch, you will be curious and just find yourself cannot stop reading the book.

It is the kind of story that sticks to your heart and leaves a mark as soon as you finished reading it so it feels like you would never forget a single detail in the story.

I also really like the “POV” style of the chapters. It makes me can really imagine what they’re feeling in each perspective and makes me relate more in some way.

It is not a hard reading but not to light also. It gives you several details about the story but not too detailed so you can still have rooms for your own imagination.

The end leaves you hanging. It is the kind of ending that still have missing puzzle pieces, still has questions to be solved. That will make you imagining and wandering what happened, which will just makes you remember the story longer. 

The love story is also on of a kind. With a ending like that, it still have some sweet and spicy scenes to be remembered. It is not a soft-and-innocent type of relationship, but it’s not to R-Rated by not giving many details of the spicy scenes. 

If you are a teenager that is looking for a book that has mystery, adventure, love story, and high school life or is just contemplating wheter or not you should read it, I very much recommend it. It is a one of a kind story you would never be bored.

But if you don’t like sad endings, this one is not for you.

And I still don’t watch the netflix adaptation, maybe next time.

Best Language to Learn

As I said before, I love learning languages. Each languages has their own uniqueness that makes them either hard or easy. In my opinion, every languages is easy if you are really willing to learn. 

If you want to learn a second language, I encourage you to start with a language with much larger influence, so if you want to learn other languages, you know the basics.

Before you choose, you should also think carefully about WHY you wanted to learn the language. That will make you learn the language more efficiently and you actually enjoy it.

But the choice is on you. I’m just helping based on my own experienced. And it’s only my personal opinion. But here is the most worth-it languages for first-learners

1. English

This is quite obvious. Almost all people in the world knows at least the basics of English and offers studies with English as the learning language. So if you want to learn language to travel or studies, this is the best language to lean. It also can make you slide through many social media easily. And this is quite easy to learn, because many schools already required English to learn at schools

2. Mandarin

Many countries in Asia (especially East Asia) either speaks Chinese or has words from its language originated from Chinese. So, if you learn Chinese, you could easily learn many languages like Japanese and Korean. Chinese speaking people are also all over the world, considering China has many populations around the world. Chinese may seem hard at first, but it you do it intensively, you will be comfortable with it.

3. France

If you like travelling, you must know France. The people in France will appreciate it if you speak France, even if it’s just the very basic, like “Bonjour”. Many Roman Languages also originated from France, like Italian. And There is also a lot of France speaking people in the world. The pronounciation may seem hard at first, but it’s worth it.

4. Indonesian

This is the most simple language in my opinion. There is neither past tense not future tense here. You can just add the time. This language is also very similiar to Malaysian. And the pronounciation of this language is very easy, almost all the words are spelled just like the alphabet. And Indonesia’s population is vary large so you can met them anywhere.

Of course, any languages is beneficial to lean, you may not want to follow these. And it’s totally OK. Because no matter what language you learn, the only thing matters is the sincerity.

Why Can’t I Remember My Dreams

I love dreaming, because sometimes I know that I was only dreaming. But, when I woke up, I immediately forgot it. Many people shares their dream stories with me. It seems fun knowing you’ve experienced something weird without even noticing it.

I once can remember my dream. I think it was when I was at kindergarten. It was so weird with much of cartoon stuff. And I miss those time where I tell everybody what I dreamt about.

Once in a while, I can slightly remember my dreams for 15 minutes because I tried so hard. But now I forgot everything about it.

I want to ask someone but to afraid it might seem very cringe. But I really want to how. I want to feel the euphoria of remembering dreams (if the dream is actually good and remarkable).

So, if any of you knows how to do it. Tell me your secret :)

Languages

If you don’t know,, I’m a multi-lingual. I speak English, Bahasa Indonesia, and Bahasa Bali. And now I’m currently learning Mandarin and France.

It may seem like a lot. But it’s not. I mean, I like learning languages over anything. But it’s not that much. Once you know he basics then you’re good to go.

But do you know why I love learning languages? First of all, I love speaking. My family often tell me that I spoke too fast that they don’t hear anything. Because of that, I’m curious about the feeling to speak freely and fastly in a language that I didn’t know. Second, I love traveling, but mostly for the food though. I travel for food. I live for food. I’m a such foodie that I can never worry about my nutrition. And when I travel to a country that doesn’t speak English, I wanna speak their own language so I can know the good and bad places -where to go and where to avoid. 

You may think speaking so much language is useless. The answer is no -and will always be no. Because now, I can relate to so many thing and know so many grammatical theories that blows my mind and I can only know those because I learn those languages. More language means more friends! Even if I wouldn’t go to that country, I can always speak those languages to other people in my country that also speak those language. I can also relate to songs with those language and doesn’t have to worry about subtitles on movies!

Knit and Crochet

I love crochet. I do it every day since earlier this year. It has been a hobby that I developed during quarantine. But I recently started knitting. And I notice soe kind of a difference, not so bad to. With crochet, I was able to work with just one hand, and the needle was a bit more slippier. But, knitting is very hard, not only the needle was big and not slippy, we have to work with two hand, and it takes a lot of time just to make that one cropped sweater. But still, I enjoyed both and will continue doing it, by mood of course. 

Many of my friends and family also told me to sell my goods. But I refuse. Not because I was lazy or don’t need money. But I feel like I need to explore more, and I shouldn’t forget why I learned crochet in the first place -to make things for myself. I don’t want to burden me by making orders that I really don’t want to do. Yes, it’s not making nay profit. But I like it that way. I choose happiness over what I do rather then just thinking about money. Nevertheless, I still can make money by my other talents.

Welcome

I’m finally here on tumblr. Do I know exactly what this is? no. Will I try to be active? probably. But there’s always space for something new.

Expect a lot of randomness here. One second I’ll write about bread and then the next I’ll ask the meaning of life.
