Call || tatum
Tatum: I got it, and I'm gonna take that to heart... I'll text you when he's up, okay?
Cole: Perfect. Thanks for taking care of the big guy.
Call || tatum
Tatum: [she blushes].... Thank you, really. Thanks I needed that. You're a really good guy, Mitch is lucky he has you too.
Cole: Anytime! Seriously, I'm just a call away. We're friends, you've got me and Brei. Not just Mitch. And thank you. Having a brother like him is pretty cool.
Call || tatum
Tatum. I'll come by tomorrow.
Tatum: I still have to bandage it up, but yeah... [she pauses, feeling a lot more emotional that she had a moment ago] You really think so? [she nods her head.] Okay... and Cole?
Cole: I know it. When I first met him, he didn't think he was capable of settling down. Now, he's never been happier. He's always beaming, especially when your name comes up.
Cole: Yeah, Tatum?
Call || tatum
Tatum: I'd do anything for him... [she sighs, trying to keep her voice down and in one peace] I know, I know... I've never seen him like that before. He broke the mirror, destroyed his room, there's glass everywhere... I'm just scared I won't know how to fix it.
Cole: Oh jeez, really? Yeah, that sounds like him, I guess... Even though he's my brother, you know him better than I do. And in the weeks since you guys got together, I've seen such a huge change in him. Let me know if there's anything I can do, but, for now, I think he just needs you, Tatum. I'll come by tomorrow.
Call || tatum
Tatum: [she bites her lip] Um, I think when he's up maybe, yeah? He really needs... He needs all the support he can get, he deserves.... I'll be fine, I'm not really worred about myself at this point.
Cole: Yeah, I know. Thanks for looking out for him, Tatum. [another pause] Are you /sure/ you're okay? You don't have to pretend you're invincible, you just have to be there for him.
Call || tatum
Tatum: Um... Your dad, he died last night. [She looked back over at her sleeping boyfriend on the bed.] Mitch isn't taking it very well.
Cole: Oh... [takes him a moment to realize what she means] Oh, you mean Carl... [sighs] Should I come over or something? Can I talk to him? [pauses] Are /you/ okay?
Call || tatum
Tatum: Um, hi... It's Tatum Kendrick,I'm with Mitch right now...
Cole: [slows to a stop] Oh, hey! Yeah, okay. What's up Tatum?
Call || 434-529-62XX
Tatum: [she looks back over at the bed, making sure Mitch is still snoring as the phone rings]
Cole: [on a run when his phone rings] [hits accept] [breathy] Hello?
Aubreigh smiled widely, taking Cole’s hand in her own after he kissed her. As she listened to him talk however, her smile slowly started decrease in size, while her eyes did the opposite. “Oh. Oh wow.” Slut, was the only word reverberating around in her head as she learned the fact that Cole and Mitch were brothers, seeing as she’d slept with both. She wondered if her boyfriend even knew, as she tried to regain her composure. “Wow…I don’t know how I’d feel if I found out my dad wasn’t my biological father…” Aubreigh finally said, choosing not to talk about her revelation.
Cole squeezed Aubreigh's hand in return, smiling as she did and frowning as she did, as well. He wasn't sure what the pause in her speech meant, but he figured that it was probably something like shock. "Yeah, I mean... Like I said, it's not a huge thing because I don't really know Carl, but my dad - the guy who raised me - is always 'dad' in my eyes. Even if we aren't biologically related."

Aubreigh: sorry : | you really don't need to worry though, everything is fine. have you slept?
Aubreigh: oh. i'm sorry to hear that. how is he holding up?
Cole: it's alright, babe. you know i'm going to worry anyway. and yeah, i have. i just met the guy so it's not really a big deal for me, but mitch it taking things pretty hard.
Cole: he'll be okay. he just needs time to himself.
"Yeah. I’m happy too. Well, with certain things. Or should I say a certain someone?” Aubreigh asked in a teasing tone of voice. “Really? Wow, that’s amazing…Are you two like, really close? I don’t remember you mentioning him before..”
"You're too cute," he teased back, giving her a quick kiss. "I mean, we were just frat brothers before, but we found out pretty recently that we've actually... got the same dad. It's weird. Doesn't change anything with me and the guy who raised me, though. He's still my dad. Carl West is just some old dude to me."

Carl’s eyes narrowed. “Huh,” was all he replied, visibly sizing up his youngest son. He was usually challenged on the stuff he said, this was a vast change of pace. It ruffled him. Returning his attention to his newspaper, he went quiet for the first time since they arrived.
Mitch turned to Cole then back to his dad… then back to Cole. Confused, he settled back on his dad, wanting to return the conversation to easier territory. Like why they were there. “So this illness… what is it? Like… mom said you’ve been sick for a while but what with?” Mitch’s question was met with a wheezing cough of a laugh, newspaper forgotten once more. “You didn’t even fucking tell them, you useless bitch?” Carl called over to his wife incredulously. The long suffering Jennifer West looked down into her lap in dismay. It took all of Mitch’s energy to stay where he was stood. “Cancer, boys. Lung. Got told a year ago that I have a year to live…” He gestured to the bed with a smug expression that didn’t really fit the situation. “And here I am. Days away from punchin’ my ticket.” The end of the sentence was paired with another rasping cough, the proud man finally giving in and going for the oxygen mask.
Mitch hadn’t exected it to, but the news hit him like a tonne of bricks. He had never gotten on with his father, in fact, he was well aware that he was a very abusive man. But dying? Mitch needed a moment to process. Unfortunately, he wasn’t going to be granted such a luxury. “What you gonna cry, little girl?” Carl croaked out.
Cole shrugged when Mitch looked at him, looking down for a moment at his hands before following his brother's gaze back to their father. He flinched at Carl's harsh words, even though they weren't intended for him, running a hand through his hair as he tried to look as calm and collected as possible.
This kind of animosity was so foreign to Cole. His parents were divorcing, sure, but they were at least civil about the process. Carl West didn't even want to allow Mitch the chance to grieve his dying father. More than likely against his better judgement, Cole moved forward, putting a hand on his brother's shoulder and squeezing it in reassurance. It pissed him off to see Carl treat Mitch so terribly without any sign of remorse.
"What's he supposed to do, Carl?" Cole asked, as calmly as he could manage. "Laugh? Jump for joy?"

Mitch closed his eyes and took in a long deep breath in a desperate attempt to keep himself centred, very much appreciating Cole’s cool demeanour. Thank god there was at least one of the West boys born without anger management issues. When he opened his eyes once more, Mitch looked over to his mother instead. “Mom, where’s Jase and Ky-” But before he could finish his question, his dad had already interrupted.
"So you two are little butt buddies now, are ya?" He spoke up with a shit eating grin, pointing at the pair of them. "Well I’ll be damned. See, when you told me about this other kid, I never knew you two would get on so well." This wasn’t sincere, the mocking nature was dripping from the words. “‘Cause I mean shit, I don’t even remember your mother, son. You put it in enough sluts, you’re gonna lose track somewhere along the way, am I right?"
Mitch stepped forward, his hand outstretched. “Tone it down, dad,” he said uncertainly but his hand was immediately slapped away. “Don’t you fucking touch me boy or I swear to god.” Mitch flinched and his eyes dropped instinctively to the ground, instantly berating himself internally for it.
As he listened to the frail man before him rattle off numerous tasteless jokes about Mitch and himself, Cole's eyes darted between Carl and his brother, noting the smug affect of the older gentleman and the younger man's submissive posture. He figured he had two options here: submit like his brother and take the verbal abuse without comment or laugh along and take the joy out of Carl's 'jokes'.
Cole took the first comment without reacting. Mitch had surely made it known that his father's comments were over the line; even though the reaction was met with more anger. But, the second comment, about Cole's mother, was easy to play along with. He didn't mean it at all - Cole loved his parents dearly - but it seemed like a decent move to make. "It's alright, Mitch. You're right, sir." He paused, a Chesire Cat grin spreading across his face. "My dad felt the exact same way."

Aubreigh: I'm okayy, don't worry about me. how are you??
Cole: i wasn't worried until you told me not to worry, brei. i'm good. tired.
