5 years later and I am still in the same dilemma
99% sure I'm a Cishet-Girl-Who-Can't-Get-Out-Of-Her-Phase-Of-Thinking-She's-Trans-And-Gay/Bi because of how it fell at such a formative time, I know how else to relate myself to the world and I don't want to lose all of my friends who I know from lgbt spaces which I would no longer be welcome in.

A metro doctor is breaking barriers for the transgender community.In today's world the transgender community still faces an uphill battle with discrimination.I've had multiple instances where I've been told 'we don't see you kind of people',” Dr. Laura Arrowsmith, DO, said.
Dr. Laura Arrowsmith has dealt with it firsthand, even by some of her peers.
“When I first came out as a transgender person the family practice doctor that I had been seeing for years refused to see me anymore,” Dr. Arrowsmith said.
Dr. Arrowsmith says about 50% of transgender individuals have been denied medical care, some even mocked and humiliated. Now she’s determined to make sure no one else feels that way.
“There’s a definite demand. People seem to be very very thankful that we’re here. I think they really like the idea that they’re being treated by someone who’s been through this process themselves,” Dr. Arrowsmith said.
Dr. Arrowsmith sees transgender patients out of the Trust Women South Wind Women’s Center in SW Oklahoma City on Mondays.
She says being transgender is a biological condition that’s widely misunderstood as a mental illness or choice.
"It’s important for people to understand that this is a very very difficult journey for us. Like I mentioned we get rejected from our families, we lose our jobs, we get kicked out of our housing,” Dr. Arrowsmith said.
A journey Dr. Arrowsmith knows well, one she’s now using to give hope to her patients who are in transition.
"Often times being able to get hormone therapy may be the only reason some people don’t give up and become suicidal. It can be that dramatically life changing,” Dr. Arrowsmith said.

the fact that people always come to trans women as if they are the Keepers of the Discourse betrays not only a comfort with the bad (in numerous ways) anthropological rendering of trans women as quasi-shamanic/mystic figures, but also shows this underlying belief in trans womanhood as Especially Political by nature and more theory than human

This is my own spin on this so @softtrade may agree or disagree on various parts / with how I explain it.
People see trans women as arbiters of activist politics because by viewing us through a transmisogynist lens they see us as living theory rather than flawed people. For example see the “trans women are all goddesses” discourse or the idea that if a trans woman cosigns some theory about some dynamic it must be correct. In a way this phenomenon is no different than in past cultures where people who occupied what we might today call trans womanhood were seen as having special connections to gods or nature and given space as priestesses or other spiritual positions.
This process essentially renders us not human because people only value us for this supposed innate understanding. But beyond that we aren’t allowed to exist outside of a political fashion. Everything we do, everything we say can and will be taken as a political stance by others. We’re not allowed to fuck up or be messed up because it ruins the othering ideal of trans women as diviner.

Being bi and non binary is rlly inconvenient when I feel such an affinity with/for m/m relationships 🌚
