Hello, I am sorry for doing this but I am currently in a very shitty situation. Due to a complicated family situation I’ve ended up nearly homeless out of nowhere.

tbh ableism in activist groups is one of the reasons that makes it hard for me to engage more with them cause like seeing people constantly freak over jokes at the expense of trans or LGB people and then the same people or multiple people using mental illness or other mental disorders as an acceptable insult and no one saying anything about it gets really tiring.

Hello there!

I’ve been absent for almost two months now. This was announced previously.

What was not announced was that during that time I was considering things. Specifically, about what to do with my online time. Amongst those things, I debated whether I wanted to continue this blog or not.

Will elaborate under cut, but the tl;dr of it is that I’m leaving “earthboundricochet” behind. 

I will sometimes come check back for messages but not reliably, so if anyone would like to keep in touch I’d suggest to exchange Discord IDs or some other type of external account (I’ve put mine here under cut, will be there for limited time, then will be available via privately contacting me).

I will not be completely leaving tumblr as I intend to basically move over to my fandom account. So if anyone is interested in following that, let me know privately (as I’ve said before, I don’t want discourse following me there, nor do I want my personal views here to be discounted due to whatever fucked up shit I write/draw). The main is mixed safe/nsfw content (I try to tag properly but don’t always catch everything), then there’s a safe-only artblog and a nsfw-only artblog.

the one single reason trans surgery in Italy is allowed is that it’s considered an urgent medical necessity. Otherwise it’d be considered “mutilation of healthy body parts” and be illegal.

How do I know this? Because you currently need a rather complicated legal procedure to be granted access to surgery, which involves convincing a judge that it is necessary for your mental health.

So, you know, if it were to no longer be considered a medical condition, it would be illegal.

This isn’t an issue with those who want hrt, surgery, etc to be demedicalized. It’s an issue with the laws of the country. Fight the system, not the others who are being trampled by it.

you legitimately expect an highly stigmatized group to change one of the main articles of the costitution of our country? 

We had to have a new law made specifically to be allowed to transition in the first place because you cannot change the constitution, and that already was really hard to obtain.

We only managed to be allowed to transition without being sterilized in 2015 and that’s still not consistently applied.

You still have to individually convince each judge that this is the case. And we are in 2018.

You have literally no fucking idea of what you expect trans people to do if you legitimately think us “fighting the system” will mean we will not be denied medical access. You know nothing of how things work here. You know nothing of how few rights we have. You know nothing of how hard we had to fight for them.

It’s not about fighting others who are being trampled by the system, it’s about being trampled over by both the system and those who do not share our problems but still decide to talk over us and fuck things over for us because “but being labelled as sick is bad!” 

But hey I guess trying to escape the stigma of having a medical issue or a mental disorder by not wanting to be compared to disabled people is most definitely fighting the system and not throwing other people under the bus. Why argue that having a medical condition is nothing to be ashamed of and that mistreatment of people with medical issues is the problem, when you can just say “oh no I’m totally not one of those sick people, I am healthy, in fact it’s insulting to imply I could be anything like those”.

After all from what I’m seeing even in activist groups IRL, ableism is totally #woke.

as i handed her the bag i was trying to say “thanks, youre all set” and instead my brain mashed up the review and i said “thanks, youre important”

there was this short pause in which i tried to figure out what the fuck id just said. she blinked and then said “oh thank you! youre important too!”

the real kicker was one of my coworkers. when i was relating this story later his response was “at least you said something NICE. last week i accidentally combined ‘youre welcome’ and ‘no problem’ into ‘youre a problem’”
