Look look I love Brennan's adoration for all her interns. But there is just something about the way Dr. Edison and her interact.
Like, Clark Edison is the FIRST intern she has when she has to deal with Zack not being around. Not because he is caught. But due to his deployment. And really, with him we learn he isn't really even the first. He's the one who STAYS. Zack returns during his time but she doesn't get rid of Clark Edison. She keeps him around and he remains an intern.
She even gets some more as well as time goes on. And we see how that goes - she develops close relationships with all of them - throughout the series. We see her dismiss an intern during S11 when they don't do well and the others consider that one a friend within a short period. New interns may get joked and mocked and judged quickly but they are also welcomed rather early in by this point.
And much of this is due to what Clark Edison went through. He dealt with a Brennan not ready to deal with Zack being gone. Not ready to process a new relationship with a new intern. She wasn't ready to welcome a new face into her life and learn about someone new. We see how that grows and changes over time ("I think it's time you call me Temperance, Dr. Edison" is a massive shift in their relationship for example) but I think one of the things that tells us a lot is when we learn of his first internship and his whole murder suspect moment.
The way she writes an entire article defending him. The way he was ready to resign and she was ready to defend. He is one of the interns who is very similar to her after all. And she knows the important of scientific accuracy, which is why he was going to resign. And yet she wrote an entire article talking about mistakes made and how the scientific community needs to acknowledge they've all made mistakes and not judge him for it. (Likely also including in it that he was still a young intern who learned and grew from that error and strives to never do so again)
In fact, her learning this about him is probably what made her see WHY he was very "no personal life at work" and "can we stick to the science" when they first meet. Why they had to break though his barriers to get to know him. Why he was so like her and she could hear Sweets inside her going "it's almost like he went through an experience that shaped him to rely on work in order to"
Anyways, I just absolutely love that her interns tend to be reflections for her in some way. But also different. And Edison being the first we see (besides Zack) to become a Doctor disappeared a bit earlier that his arrivals become this sort of joy in the reflection. A reminder of her "I'll follow the evidence" and "procedures/rules" matter. We see it every single episode but he shows it back to us and as well his passion for history reflects in her during some eps. It's just ... I love that he went from "she doesn't like me"/"I don't want him here" to "I have worked with you for a decade, if anyone can do it I know it's you"/"we all make mistakes Dr. Edison" the sheer confidence and respect is just

often booth’s very judgemental catholic thing annoys me, but i found this exchange so funny -
booth: it’s wrong.
brennan: how do you know?
booth: it says in the bible.
brennan: does not!
booth: well then it got left out by mistake.
("it" being pony play, by the way, but that’s beside the point.)
WIBTA for taking advantage of my boss’ possible manic episode?
I know this already sounds bad but hear me out.
So I (30M) am the sole employee of this guy (62M) who’s honestly just a miserable boss and an even more miserable person. It sucks so bad working for him—the pay is horrendous, he’s verbally abusive, and the working conditions are awful (in the winter I literally have to stay bundled up the whole work day because he refuses to put the heat on in the office). He wouldn’t even give me holidays off if it wasn’t for the fact that there’s basically nothing to do those days because everywhere else is closed. I’m almost positive he unironically thinks poor people should die if they can’t work. His nephew (aka his only living relative and just the nicest guy) came by yesterday to invite him to Christmas dinner and he told him he’d see him in hell.
I cannot stress this enough—it’s BAD. I’d quit, but it’s been hard finding a better job and I’ve got four kids at home, including one with special needs.
Anyway, so here’s where I’m wondering if I’d be the asshole. Today was Christmas Day and he showed up at my house out of nowhere (huge red flag, I know). At first I thought he’d forgotten I had the day off and he was here to chew me out, which was worrying enough, but then his whole demeanor changed and he was super happy and excited and talking about how he was going to raise my salary. He even mentioned possibly making me a partner in the firm.
Now if that was it, I’d feel a little weird about the suddenness of it but it’d be fine. I’m not going to complain about having more money to feed my family. But then he started talking about how he wanted to pay our mortgage off. He talked about wanting to pay for our son to get the very expensive medical care that’s probably going to save his life. He mentioned at one point that he was going to be donating a huge amount of money to charity too—I knew he was rich but it staggered me. All this from a guy who doesn’t (didn’t?) even want to turn on the heat or the lights because it costs too much money.
It was such a sudden and drastic change that happened very literally overnight and now I’m kind of concerned he’s having a manic episode or something. I really, really want to accept his sudden generosity (I probably will; my wife is all for it and thinks he owes it to us), and I would love to believe that he’s truly had a sudden change of heart (an actual Christmas miracle lol) but I’m just worried about the possible consequences of accepting huge financial gifts like this from someone who I believe might be experiencing some kind of break from reality. Even if there’s nothing legally wrong with it, I’m worried about the ethics of it.
TLDR, my asshole boss might be in the middle of a mental breakdown. WIBTA if I accepted his offer to pay off my mortgage and my son’s medical expenses?
starting my yearly Christmas Carol hyper analysis bullshit but something I think is very funny and also isn’t brought up enough is that Scrooge is sick as fuck during the events of the book.
He’s not eating the gruel because it’s his favorite thing. He actually goes to dinner at a pub before he goes home. The gruel is because he’s sick. It’s medicinal gruel.
A small fire in the grate; spoon and basin ready; and the little saucepan of gruel (Scrooge had a cold in his head) upon the hob.
Scrooge has a nasty cold during the entire story and that makes things ten times funnier.
You’re sick as fuck with a cold and then your dead friend shows up and yells at you. I’d want to go to sleep too.
Top 10 Bones Episodes (3/10)
The Patriot in Purgatory
Brennan, intrigued by Phil Jackson’s management style, pulls all her interns together as a team for a project worthy of the basketball coach’s philosophy. She charges them with identifying remains that have been determined unidentifiable. For the team, however, it turns out that naming the bodies may be the easiest part of their task when one of them is from 9/11 and they must decide if he is a victim or perpetrator.
I feel like everyone forgets about Cam & Arastoo's kids
I discovered that there is no image of them on google or the fandom wiki so i went and screenshotted the scene
From left to right is Jordan, Isaiah, and Tyler !!
Screenshot is from the series finale (The End in the End) and names are from the same scene (Cam points each out and says their names)
My estimate on their ages would be maybe 11/12 (Jordan) , 13/14 (Isaiah) , and 15/16 (Tyler) at the time of the photo
They would've been born 2006 , 2004 , and 2002 if we assume Bones season 12 took place in 2017 when it aired , making them 19 , 21 , and 23 today
conversation with my partner that reminded me of them
