I usually don’t post anything personal on this blog. This is a friendly environment for all Friends fans, and I love that. I want to respect this environment as much as I possible can, because I see you guys as my friends. Even if we’ve never talked before, I care about you. Every single one of you. Since I see you guys as my friends, I feel like I need to give you guys a little update. Lately, I haven’t been doing too well. I’ve been struggling with my (mental) health for a few years now, but the past year was a good year for me. I felt better and I got to know myself better. However, the last few weeks have been very difficult for me. A lot has happened, and I haven’t been able to deal with it properly. I’ve been feeling unhappy again. A few days ago, something happened that made things just a little worse. I promise I will keep this blog running and updated, because I know it brings both you and me happiness and joy. I’m sorry for posting about my personal life. If you ever want to talk about anything (seriously, anything), please know that I’m here for you. Due to the amount of messages I receive, I might not respond immediately, but I will respond. Promise. Thank you.

I woke up this morning to the sight of my backyard covered in white. Many would quickly presume it was a thin layer of snow covering what nature left for the animals running around to find, but I recognized signals of frost and saw an opportunity to take some pictures. As I, wearing only my pajamas, was walking through the the icy cold I found the most delicate ice crystals covering every inch of every plant, leaf and twig. I started losing the feeling in my hands and taking pictures became more and more difficult, but I knew for a fact these pictures would be worth taking. What being a photographer at heart has taught me is that the world isn’t always what it seems to be, and that taking a physical or mental step closer is a good thing. I hope you enjoy looking at these pictures I took of my frozen picnic table and these beautifully frozen leaves as much as I enjoy taking them. Happy 2017.

Every year a small number of radio DJs from the Dutch radio station 3FM are voluntarily being locked up in a glass house the week before Christmas. The glass house is placed in a different city every year, and has a few commitments for the DJ’s: they aren’t allowed to eat solid food (only liquids are allowed), they must be on air constantly (taking turns as to who sleeps and who’s on air)whilst they’re on air they are exposed to the public, and most importantly; they must raise money for charity. Every year, a different cause is chosen. This year their goal is to stop and prevent pneumonia from killing innocent children and people. Every year, in the spirit of Christmas, they raise millions for a great cause.

This year, a young boy named Tijn stepped forward, wanting to paint people’s nails in order to raise money for Serious Request. Six year old Tijn is suffering from diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG), which is a tumour located in the middle of the brain stem, and was being told he has less than a year to live. Tijn’s biggest wish was to raise money for Serious Request, and even though his initial goal was to collect €100 for the charity, he has now reached almost €2,000,000. The trend Tijn started is phenomenal.
