Actually, to that end (referring to what I just reblogged about the sensory memory of certain cartoons), it's weird how many of my eating habits are rooted in animation.
Like, that 90s cat version of David Copperfield? I still use bread to mop up my plate juices, just like Davie did at the orphanage. Exactly like he did: in circles.
Every time I eat a cupcake, I hear that wiener dog chortle from the Tom and Jerry movie, and I used to lick off the frosting in the same way until I stopped liking frosting.
There was some black and white cartoon about kids in poverty imagining a Christmas feast instead of their old crusty bread dipped in milk to soften it. Despite never trying it with bread, my childhood brain stubbornly maintained a vivid memory of that mouthfeel, as if it were real, that persists to this day.
