Hinami didn’t go to school; despite her age, it was impossible for her due to her ghoulish nature. However, that didn’t make her unaware of the excitement in the air as everyone prepared to go back to school themselves. And the anticipation was contagious.
So even though she didn’t need any supplies herself, she found herself wandering around an office supply store, basket in hand, looking equally at packs of colorful pens and the others shopping around her. She could use the pens for writing, anyway. And they were cute…
She took a step back, trying to convince herself to move to another (less tempting) aisle, and ran into a warm body. Startled, she jumped back into the racks, sending packs of pens cascading to the bottom of the display. With a groan, she turned back to the person she’d run into.
“Ah, I’m sorry–I didn’t mean to run into you; I didn’t realize you were there.” As she talked, she realized the girl looked around her own age; a little younger, perhaps. Or not. Hinami wasn’t very good at judging these things. Still, she didn’t know many girls her own age… She fidgeted, pressing the edge of her skirt between her fingers as she dared to ask a question. “Um… do you go to school around here?”
;;—❀ } The red cloak around her neck Ruby walked down the aisle of the store. The store was filled with a fair amount of people, probably here for the same reason she was. Ruby usually referred to this kind of setting as 'The back-to-school-hype 2.0′. Of course the 2.0 was for no reason other than it sounded cool. Ruby groaned, the thought of going back to school was unbearably boring. Ruby didn’t hate school, but there no way the school here was anything like Beacon or Signal academy. It was just an ordinary school, there were no fighting classes on becoming a huntsmen or huntress. Even attending a school like this, Ruby knew some day she would become a huntress and there was nothing that could stop her.
❝ Okay Ruby, what is the usual kind of supplies you need for school. ❞ Ruby walked down aisle after aisle, without anything she needed really in mind. She created a mental checklist. Paper, check. Pencils, check. Erasers, check. Ruby looked at the carts around her, everyone had mountains of supplies while Ruby’s basket only had a few items.❝ Come on! What else is there to have!? ❞ Ruby turned down the next aisle, only one other girl stood there staring at a wall of pens, some in packages of ten. ❝ Who the heck needs this many pens!? ❞ Ruby blurted out from behind the girl. At the same time as those words tumbled from her lips, the other girl took a step back and bumped into Ruby. ❝ Oh, sorry about that I was—... ❞ Before Ruby could finish apologizing the girl had jumped back and knocked over the wall of pens behind them.
Silver eyes starred at the numerous packages of various pens that littered the ground. She shifted her eyes to look at the girl who began apologizing. ❝ No, no I’m just as at fault. Umm... Are you alright? ❞ The girl before her seemed to be pretty shy judging from the way she fidgeted around. Ruby was a little surprised when the girl asked her a question like that. ❝ Well, I probably wouldn’t be here otherwise. I recently enrolled so it’ll be my first year here... Um, do you? ❞
