My childhood home (Florida) and my current home base (North Carolina) have been devastated by Hurricane Helene. I don’t even know how to describe the destruction. So many people I love have lost everything.

If you are able to give, here are some organizations I trust:

Direct Relief provides emergency medicines, hygiene kits and transportation for the medically vulnerable.

Save The Children is delivering child-focused supplies like diapers, wipes and classroom cleaning kits to the areas impacted.

All Hands And Hearts assists with clean up and rebuilding efforts. I appreciate that they make a long-term (12 months or more) plan to support the communities they serve.

Homeward Bound is specifically working to shelter people in the Asheville, NC area who were experiencing homelessness and are even more vulnerable after the storm.

Operation Airdrop is delivering supplies in areas of Florida and North Carolina that are currently inaccessible by car or truck.

And of course there are the big orgs like the Red Cross or faith-based groups you can support if you prefer.
