- all three of your potential love interests end up on the same ship at one point they have a lot of tension between them but they don’t fight because you told them not to

- a random pirate you knew for half an hour names you his heir and now you command one of the biggest and most important fleets in the sea

- not only that but you became the Queen of all pirates who now obey you and are at your command. You use your powers to destroy the fleet of the East India Company

i've always wondered what human speech would look like visually in the POV of eridians in the same way eridian speech is written as music notes in the book and my favorite version of it i've seen in fics is when words are written as phonetics in rocky's POV :-) oh and also that one post about rocky and grace figuring out random words they can say in the other's language

Okay but this is several layers of amazing.

Gene Luen Yang not only brought attention back to the fact that Clark was always ment to represent the struggels of immigrants, he also very cleverly put attention to how the media has used “Alien invasion” and similar plots over the years to prepatuate a message of Xenophobia.

The sort of shame and discomfort Clark feels in this memory is so relateable to people of color who have seen similar takes on their own demographic too.

This book honestly is super important.
