The reframing of this scene and theme from New Gods 1971 was just so tender, at its heart it is the same, but it also marries Orion's fear and Lightray's unrelenting love in such a deeply compelling way that makes it hit differently.

Imagine being Scott Free and having to explain capitalism and the 1960s to your brother who has no concept of either and upon learning about capitalism will probably try to fight those perpetuating it, loudly, and publicly, because he rages against evil.
The bar was in space. Barda was amazing so I had extremely high hopes for Orion and let me tell you, this exceeded my expectations by a mile.
Easily one of the best books I’ve read in quite a while and probably one of the best books DC has put out in a while.
I loved how it rearranged the original story in a way that made sense and referenced a bunch of old panels. It also added on much more world building which the original Fourth World Saga definitely needed.
I would 10000000% recommend this.
