Okay, so what I was saying in my long Gabriel analysis rings true. (Ha ha...rings....) He changed to be accepted by Emilie's parents.
Deep down, Gabriel probably relates to Marinette. In the story Feligami tell...Marinette could easily be the poor tailor, while Adrien is the heir to the empire, ready to throw it all away for her.
At some point, Gabriel got twisted and sold out his values. It was probably a gradual process, which explains why Emilie initially fell in love with him and then stuck with him despite her unhappiness with him later.
In one of her videos for Nathalie, she said Gabriel got stuck on things. He was good enough for her but not for himself.
When he looks at Marinette, he sees a little of what he used to be. When he gives her that speech about being naive in the fashion world...he's talking about himself, once upon a time. I think he once had a dream like hers, and he let it go, focusing instead on the wealth and status he needed to be good enough for his in-laws.
Now, he envies Marinette, even if he's unaware of it. That's the only reason a grown man would be fixated on her in that way. He's treating her the way Emilie's parents treated him. He has to break her and get her out of his son's life because if he doesn't - if she achieves her dreams of marrying Adrien and becoming a designer without selling out her principles - it means he could have done this too. It will force him to reflect and take accountability for his bad decisions...and he just can't cope with that.
Similarly, when he hurls abuse at Cat Noir about what an ill-mannered child he is, and when he goes to such lengths to control Adrien...I really think he's seeing a reflection of his younger self there too.
Underneath the pancakes and bad dancing and total insanity, the man is nothing but a writhing heap of regrets and won't see that he had so many chances to do things another way.
What so many of you fail to consider is that for Marinette, being Ladybug is crucial enrichment. If you don't throw an Akuma into her enclosure (the city of Paris) every now and then, she will develop behavioural issues and go insane from boredom. On the other hand, whenever that does happen, giving her an Akuma usually calms her right down. It's like a dog toy, or a laser pointer for a cat.
This is a fairly common thread through most episodes. At the start, Marinette has a problem, often involving Adrien, and she goes completely insane over it, trying to find solutions that are just buck wild. And usually, an Akuma appears, Marinette focuses all her mind on that for a while, and then realises that she went too far and calms down, because now her brain has been sufficiently stimulated and she burned off her excess energy.
Yes, defeating Akumas is stressful for her, no doubt, but I think it's even more clear that not doing that is causing far more stress behaviours to appear in her. She is an excellent guardian and strategizer, great at analysing situations and coming up with plans, and if you don't give her a proper outlet for that, she will come up with her own, often with humorously disastrous results.
So the (admittedly few) posts saying that Marinette shouldn't be Ladybug, or deserves to retire, are getting it all backwards in my opinion. If you retire her, you'll have to give her something else to do. Otherwise, the next time they're in the supermarket, she will build a weird contraption out of a shopping cart, canned beans and a quizz magazine to parkour to the top shelf, instead of asking Adrien for help.
So be a bit more careful with how you treat Marinette. If you force her to sit still, she will not thank you.
I keep forgetting to post this 😔
This was a commission for @/amsamena
I missed drawing them so much, but following my idea of AU Gods
One thing I will say about Zagstruc, they absolutely knew what they were doing when they wrote an entire class of 13-15 year olds and made each and every one of them completely unhinged. Weird little girl and strange little boy solidarity
And before you say "Nino," "Mylene," or "Juleka," keep in mind that Nino set up an entire PI's office in the school's boiler room for dramatic effect, Mylene would absolutely throw herself in front of a running chainsaw, and Juleka's reaction to Horrificator was basically "I wanna hug it"
Mylene canonically gave Miss Bustier a lock of hair for her birthday present
Also wasn't Juleka's first suggestion for helping Marinette with her rivalry with Kagami to just straight up kidnap her?
Marinette 2C
What if she surprises Adrien on their first date wearing a cat themed outfit? ‘3′
Bonus:
(Alya and Nino will def spy on them tho)

*I’m not taking anymore requests, just finishing the one’s left C:*
I can’t stop thinking about how the canon portrayal of Ladynoir patrols differs from fanon patrols.
In fanon patrols (which started long before patrols were even confirmed), Ladybug and Chat Noir interact with Paris as little as possible. They stay atop the rooftops, virtually never touching the ground unless they see trouble, and watch everything from above… kind of isolated. They virtually only patrol in the evenings/at night, and civilians hardly even know that they’re there other than occasionally seeing them in the corner of their eyes.
But now we’ve gotten an actual glimpse of what patrols are like for them in canon. And it’s…. so different?
First of all, their patrol time seems to be in the middle of the day, not at night. (I mean, given how we’ve seen ladybug and chat noir meet up in the evening/night before, they probably do both. But daytime patrols aren’t the norm in fics ime).
Chat Noir, while on patrol alone, doesn’t just watch Paris from the rooftops. He jumps down and interacts with the civilians! He sits by Mr. Ramier in the park and checks in on him! He goes to the hotel and orders drinks! And the citizens of Paris aren’t fazed by this at all: this is completely normal to them!
(Do Chat Noir and Ladybug usually come to the hotel to get drinks, or is it just Chat Noir when he’s alone? Do Ladybug and Chat Noir chill by the bar, keeping an eye out on Chloe, and hang out as they drink? What do you think Ladybug’s “usual” is?)
Not to mention Ladybug and Chat Noir posing with children and eating ice cream together in the beginning of the Shanghai special.
Like, Chat Noir and Ladybug don’t just watch Paris. They interact with it. Paris sees them walking around, sees them ordering food and chatting with people, and nobody really bats an eye. Like “oh yeah, I stood behind Ladybug and Chat Noir today in line for ice cream. Must’ve been their regular 2pm patrol” like??? Yes, they have fans that may call them over for some selfies, but they aren’t nearly as isolated from society as it was assumed.
I don’t know. I just. Really love it. I always really loved the fanon portrayal of patrols, it’s really intimate… but there’s also something so nice and charming about canon’s.
(also….. we now know the canon spot they meet up for patrol. just saying)
No one has even mentioned how important this is to the patrol.
Ladybug and Chat noir being active and talking with people. The akuma and Amoks are attracted to negative emotions. So Ladybug and Chat noir talking to people and making sure Paris and its citizens are in a good mood is actually a REALLY effective way of ensuring akuma don’t attack.
Ladybug and Chat noir arent just protectors that fight villains. They are heroes that fight for a happier city. It makes their connection to Paris so much more personal as a result.

can you tell us more about the technology bac? is this the one Marinette would theoretically take if she wanted to take a fashion designer path? what if someone wanted to be a social worker? thanks so much (i love your blog, it's so helpful)!
Hi, of course! We're glad we can help 😊
The technology bac is indeed the most practical bac to take when considering a career in design, since it's more hands-on than the general bacalaureate (but design schools also have spots open for the latter). It's very good if you know exactly what career path you want to take, but if not, it's recommended to do a general bac, as it's less restrictive in the long run.
There are 8 sub-categories of technology bacalaureates, the relevant one for design being the Sciences et technologies du design et des arts appliqués (ST2A = sciences and technology of design and applied arts) branch. This includes clothes design and object design, as well as graphic design.
Technology students follow the same general classes as students who take the general bacalaureate:
French literature (in première)
Moral and Civic Education
History and Geography
Foreign languages
Physical Education
Philosophy (in terminale)
Additionally, they have 3 specific classes in première and 2 in terminale:
Physics and chemistry: focus on the study of the physical properties of materials and on light.
Digital tools and language: programming, as well as online modelisation.
Design and art trades: history of techniques, as well as technological, artistic, scientific and economic advancements.
Design methods and analysis: builds analytical and argumentative skills.
Conception and creation in design and art trades: a practical class oriented towards design.
They also have one hour of technology class in their first foreign language.
Regarding social workers, they can come from a General bacalaureate background, or a technology background. The relevant branch in their case is the Sciences et technologies de la santé et du social (ST2S = Sciences and technologies of health and social issues). Note: even though the ST2S bac can be very health oriented and can lead to further studies in the health sector (paramedical professions), it is not the recommended bac to get into medicine.
Like the ST2A, they have a general curriculum and a specialised one, with three classes in première and two in terminale:
Health physics and chemistry: its aim is to build knowledge based on physics, chemistry, biology and human physiopathology.
Human biology and physiopathology: study of the human body's structure and function, diseases, and the latter's prevention and treatment.
Sanitary and social sciences and techniques: this class is taken both in première and terminale. It involves the analysis of sanitary or social news.
Human chemistry, biology and physiopathology
Hope this answered your questions!

Holy shit I just remembered this
She threw herself in front of a cataclysm for chat noir and relied on a fucking chain to take the impact like she didn’t even think if it had missed I love them so much
Do you have your ladybug best friend swap art in an easier to read size? I really want to know what they're saying but it's one big block and when I try to zoom in it just gets fuzzy. But from what I can read it seems really cool! I'd love to see more of it!
Anon i completely forgot that was a thing and now i want to draw it again asdhfas
but here, i hope this helps:
I’ll be there when the world stops turning I’ll be there when the storm is through In the end I want to be standing At the beginning With you
Zooming in on the light in this photo is tripping me out because I have been obsessing over what exact color or mix of colors I can use to portray an ultra-bright white light. Because white doesnt quite do it and when I stare at a bright light it looks like yellow, green, and blue to me.
I zoomed in on this and the “light” in this picture is actually green, yellow, and red. :o!!!!!!!!!
Glad it was interesting somehow!
But since you said you’ve been wanting to do it.. Unsolicited tip?
Just white doesn’t cut it cause white is actually the result of all other colors combined, so to portray it you need to imply these other colors. A general rule of thumb is that 2 colors will do the trick: The color you want your light to reflect, aka your object color [that I wrote major below because I’m stupid lmao] and a receding color - that is, the color the light will get as it interacts with the environment around the object. This second color usually fades out and enhances the “super bright-MY EEEYES” effect.
this little tip comes from light diffraction, which creates that rainbow-like effect and is something easily observable on the readable side of a CD, for example!
^this is from another painting with a very bright light and some diffraction going on~
You need colors in the background [the darker, the better] to have this work out the best! Bonus observation: The sorta trippy effect you get in this post’s painting is because the green and red are being used to create a chromatic aberration - an effect that happens when the lens of a camera, for example, fail to focus all colors to the same point. Quite neat!
I don’t think I reblogged this back when I first saw it– I think I just saved it to refer to the drawing tip later– but I will reblog it now to share this beautiful drawing and to tell OP and others how much this simple tip for drawing light has changed my year.
About a year and a half ago I was scrolling through Tumblr. I came across this drawing and the tip OP added in a reblog. I saved it with the intent of trying it out and seeing if I could draw something and really make it look like light. A while after that, I started a new drawing and decided it was the perfect time to employ this new tip I found. It worked, and it came out really nice looking, and I was very happy with the result. A while after that, in January of this year, I was leaving class one day and noticed a poster advertising a student art competition for figurative artwork. I decided to submit the drawing I’d done using @thunderpot’s drawing tip, because it was good. I submitted it, kind of forgot about it, then received an email months later that I had been chosen as a finalist for this competition (which was a MUCH more prestigious competition than I had realized when I entered). And when I spoke with the judges– all of whom were big name artists and curators from places like the Met, the MoMA, the National Gallery of Art, The Guggenheim, etc– they all raved about how I had drawn the light in particular.
So yeah, @thunderpot, this unsolicited art tip you gave to an enthusiastic Tumblr user over a year ago (maybe more? I didn’t check the date of the reblog) is Met/MoMA/NGA/Guggenheim-approved. It directly led to another enthusiastic Tumblr user seeing a drawing of hers on display in a gallery in New York City. And for that I thank you very much.
OH MY GOD I GOT CHILLS! I’M SO HAPPY FOR YOU, CONGRATULATIONS ON THE COMPETITION AND ON THE GALLERY, THIS IS A GREAT ACHIEVEMENT!!
WAAAA my heart is so full right now, thank you so much for sharing this!!
DC x Miraculous Crossover AU where, after the City of Paris officially barred outside superheroes from operating within Paris without explicit permissions from Team Miraculous, Ladybug and Chat Noir still have to take a trip to Oa to tell the Guardians that the Green Lanterns operating in that area of the system (there are like 8 now?) have also been barred for operating in Paris.
Funnier if it’s a Bio!dad Bruce Wayne fic, though ultimately not necessary, because it’s one thing to tell specific heroes to stay out of your city but it’s another thing entirely to fly several space quadrants to speak to the Guardian’s and get them to back it up.
The GL’s on Earth don’t even have to have disagreed with the original argument from the City of Paris. It can just be an assumed thing that Team Miraculous take jurisdiction over Miraculous and Akuma based events occurring in space.
Why does this Kim Possible audio fit MLB perfectly?
Another animatic from me!
