& somehow were still not done razin the earth clean 4 new construction. nvr will be.

if flame man is anything Big Oil is also still a Big Moneymaker so add on every unfortunate environmental byproduct of extracting fracking & refinement

Yeah, a lot of the popular origins are kind of wild guesses. Blizzard could plausibly be from like half a dozen different countries, given all he really has for thematics is Frozen North, and I refuse to believe anybody out-of-universe thought any further with Flame Man than “he’s from The Middle East”. No specific country, just The Middle East. (I’ve heard speculation he might be from Iran, because they’re a major oil exporter and apparently turbans are common enough for men there, but like let’s be real, Capcom didn’t give a shit, they just slapped a turban on an oil-and-fire-themed robot and called it a day.)

And yeah, probably the most logical explanation for Tomahawk Man’s whole design is that he was made by a bunch of white dudes who designed him off racist stereotypes (especially since that’s the out-of-universe explanation for the design too!), but I will freely admit that it also kind of nauseates me when I think about it too hard, because dear GOD it would suck to be Tomahawk Man and slowly realize you were basically designed as a mockery of a racial minority and most of your identity is straight-up racist.

…I might be a little overly invested in the MM6 cast right now, LOL. I was thinking about them yesterday and like. Jesus CHRIST Capcom fumbled such a good concept with them. They’re like one of the only lines with an actual theme (super-fighting robots from all over the world!), and Cpacom just kind of phoned it in IMO? And the period-typical racism spoils the concept pretty badly. MM6’s concept was ahead of its time, IMO: maybe I’m overly-optimistic, but I feel like if it’d come out in like 2018 instead of 1993, they might’ve done a better job with the concept of eight super-fighting robots from all over the world.
