A single shard of a Christensen Agate guinea marble, dug from the earth surrounding the now demolished factory.

The guinea marble is rumored to have gotten its name from its resemblance to the colorful guinea fowl roaming the factory fields. Marble history has been poorly preserved and the process by which guineas were made has been lost to time, but the the prevailing theory is that a base glass cane was rolled atop a bed of colored shards, rolled a second time to melt the shards into their distinctive smeared pattern, then cut from the cane and shaped.

Guineas are one of, if not the, most revered marbles among enthusiasts due to their mythological stratum. Fully intact guinea marbles with a clear base are valued at around $800, with the more uncommon amber and cobalt varieties and the even rarer cyclones/cobras (which have colored glass throughout rather than solely on the outside) entering values in the mid thousands.
