‘ awe you’re okay kiddo, you’re alright ’ claire spoke gently as she wiped tears from your face with the edge of her sleeve. her fingers swept over your forehead as she pushed aside your hair, tucking it behind your ear before running soothing fingers over your scalp. claire began to sway as she murmured little nothings to you; fun facts and little anecdotes. after a while her fingers stopped their gentle run through your hair and you whined pitifully. ‘ oh , baby , were you enjoying that ? i’ll keep going kiddo , i got you ’
‘ you’re breaking my heart , sweetheart , ’ leon spoke so softly you almost didn’t hear him where you’d pressed yourself into the crook of his neck. his arms were solid and strong as they held you up and it was easy to drown everything out except the soundtrack of leon’s low hushing as he rocked you slowly and alternated between patting your back and rubbing it soothingly. at some point he’d started humming and it was easy to forget what you’d been upset about in the first place. when leon moved to set you down you clung tighter , earning a huff of laughter from him as he patted your back to settle you again. ‘ alright , kid , you can stay with me a little longer ’
‘ what’s all this crying for , huh? you’re fine squirt, ’ one moment you’d been uncomfortably warm, still half swaddled from your nap, and the next you’d been freed from your blankets and lifted from your sleep warm bundle. there was something immediately calming about being held in familiar arms but after the the shock had worn off your frustration had come back at once, chris was quick to begin a slow bouncing motion as he walked you around in meandering circles. you settled slowly, still gripping tight to his t-shirt and refusing to be put down. once you’d calmed enough chris began poking at your sides until you giggled he pressed a kiss to the side of your head ‘ there’s a smile , hi there baby ’
‘ poor kid , c’mere , ’ it was silly to be crying but you were so frustrated and overstimulated, you couldn’t help it when tears gathered and spilled without permission which only frustrated you more. in no time at all jill had you on her hip as she led you to the kitchen, setting you down on the counter and promising she’d be right back. she returned with cold water in your favorite sippy cup, mopping the tears from your face before helping you drink; she reminded you to take slow sips and only smiled when you pouted. ‘ you feeling better , bud? ’ she asked when you’d finished half your cup. ‘ words can be hard , i know kid, it’s okay ’
authors note ノ wHoa.. . whit writes x reader .. that never happens : oo seriously i never write x reader but it was calling to me !! hope this is good ?! feel like reader insert doesn’t come super easily to me but im going to try !! hope some teeny tiny baby regressor finds this and feels comforted :3
