#BuyPens campaign raises $145,000 for Syrian refugees in just three days
#BuyPens began after Norwegian activist Gissur Simonarson posted a photo of a destitute Syrian man selling pens in the streets of Beirut, Lebanon, while carrying his 4-year-old daughter in his arms. Simonarson was able to find the man, identified as Abdul Halim, and has since set up a wildly successful Indiegogo for them.
I have not written in a while so this may come out a little bizarre.
A few days ago I was going through my uncles belongings, he passed away two months ago. We were very close; he was like a dad and almost like my personal counsellor. We joked about how he would be my personal advisor when I became successful. That is that it. He was always 110% behind me, always supported me, always showed he cared. There has not been a day I don’t think about him, I just want to make him proud.
Though, as I was going through his CDs and books I was thinking about how we literally leave all these physical things behind we cannot take them to wherever it is we end up. That hurt me a lot, like he made all this money for all these expensive items and for what? We’re here for such a short time! IT IS MENTAL. Literally why do we take every day for granted. He had no idea he had cancer and was in that hospital for three months, they told him he was getting better and he was not getting better. His body was failing him and the cancer spread to his nervous system; a day later he was pronounced brain dead. It hurts that he never got to do all the things he wanted to do, all the things he wrote down on his note book.
Such a short time on this beautiful planet, love and care for people. Travel and educate yourself, just keep growing and keep being happy. That’s all, forget about the rest. Nothing else really matters.
So I’m going to go off to Vietnam in a few days to open my backpackers hostel called See You At Lily’s and keep meeting beautiful souls, keep being happy.
