hey, i'm coni. you can use the full username if you'd like but coni is the preferred nickname (you could also use con. whatever works, but i always shorten it to coni)

this isn't a themed blog or anything i just use this like i would any other social media (well maybe not exactly but. y'know. not themed. yeag) i'm really into subnautica, vocaloid, mass effect and project sekai right now but i like a ton of different things. i appreciate when people talk to me about my interests or ask for my thoughts on things related to them :) expect to see a lot of barrix on here!! i created this account at the recommendation of a friend because i was being insufferable about them and needed an outlet asks are very much welcome!! send me stuff!! if you want!! doesn't have to be questions you can just put whatever in there really (within reason of course)

give it up for day 7!! the first part of this post will be about andromeda in general and the second part will be me gushing about macen and avitus specifically because you know i have to ...this'll be a bit of a longer post and i am once again doing this way too late into the day

i first played mass effect andromeda a couple years ago (i don't remember when specifically but i feel like it was around 5 years ago) because my dad had a copy of it for the ps4 and i saw it and went "huh. looks interesting, why not?" <- guy who doesn't know they are about to be introduced to a life-changing series i don't fully remember what exactly i did in my first playthrough of andromeda years ago, but once i finished it i had kinda moved on. i know i had a lot of fun with it, though. unfortunately due to the nature of how i was playing it (on a console that was not mine) i don't think i explored it to the fullest, which is probably why it didn't immediately become an integral part of my very being like most things i enjoy do (this changes) fast forward to may 29th, 2025 and i'm suddenly remembering this random sci-fi rpg i played years ago and getting the urge to experience it again, so i buy it on steam. obviously, this lead to fixation and now i'm here being obnoxious about it on tumblr dot com the premise of leaving everything behind to explore and find a home in another galaxy is SOOO much fun and the general vibe of exploration is exactly my kind of thing there's so many fun characters and i'd really love to be more specific about them but i'm really struggling to articulate my thoughts right now. i'm also exhausted so that probably isn't helping now for specifically avitus and macen, my beloveds they make me ill in all of the best ways macen only agreeing to become the turian pathfinder if avitus can be his second? SICKENING. "you sound like macen. he said i deserved a life outside of the shadows." I'M GOING TO CRY. "i know i said i wouldn't go against procedure, but i want your face to be the last thing i see in the milky way." RATTLING THE BARS OF MY ENCLOSURE. avitus being afraid to become the turian pathfinder because he doesn't want to let macen down (even though that fear is unfounded?) AGONIZING. i think about these two constantly, though i'm sure i've made that abundantly clear. they became some of my favorite fictional characters of all time VERY quickly after rediscovering (i guess? would that be the right term?) andromeda and playing the turian ark missions. the night after i had finished lost but not forgotten i thought about them so much and so hard that i just started sobbing when i woke up the next morning. this was far from the only time i've cried because of them. i do not think it is possible for me to understate just how insane i am about macen and avitus also. this is a macen lives household thank you very much and their past!!! their connections to the trilogy!!! delicious!!! i am of the belief that saren, nihlus and avitus were friends in the most feral spectre way possible. avitus absolutely brought macen along for the ride that is whatever bullshit the trio of spectres got up to on multiple occasions OKAY it's getting too late so i'm going to leave this here. i think this is sufficient for the day 7 prompt GOODBYE I'M STOPPING BEFORE I MAKE THIS POST MORE EMBARRASING AND PERSONAL THAN IT ALREADY IS. day 6 prompt, hmm bear with me on this one since this might be fueled by a little bit too much hopium me5 teasers have been pretty clearly showing or hinting at a connection between the milky way and andromeda galaxies, and i think the mysterious benefactor may have something to do with this. i think it's possible that information was withheld from even the highest ranking initiative personnel regarding the journey to andromeda. again, maybe a liiitle out there, but what if the trip to andromeda didn't take nearly as long as we're lead to believe? what if (relatively) quick travel between the two galaxies is possible? there's a few ways you could probably explain this, wormholes probably being the easiest one - but maybe it's something to do with the reapers and how they retreat to dark space after each cycle? they're able to, for lack of a better term, fast travel from dark space to a mass relay in the milky way. what mechanism allows this to happen? would the mechanism that makes this possible be able to explain any of this? iunno, but i think the benefactor discovered/knew of some way to get to andromeda quickly and the time gap between the original trilogy and mea isn't actually hundreds of years why would this information be withheld? we know the mysterious benefactor was aware of the reapers, so maybe they wanted to ensure the imminent conflict wouldn't affect the initiative? having people freely moving about between galaxies seems like a great way to bring unwanted things to andromeda. or maybe it had something to do with making sure the initiative stayed as its own sovereign entity detached from milky way civilizations? i'll be honest i'm just throwing ideas out that seem even a tiny bit possible even if they aren't the best reasoning. i don't knowwww there's so many unknowns this post was brought to you by someone who really wants me5 to be set in both galaxies and see characters and locations from both the trilogy and mea in the same game

midnight is about half an hour away in my timezone and i've been absorbed in other things AND i'm blanking on what i could say about the day 5 prompt so i'll just throw out something random i've been reading initiation, it's a lot of fun and the additional background for cora and the initiative is very interesting i'm a little over halfway through as of writing this. i've got some of the other mass effect novels i'll be moving on to after i finish initiation, but i have a bad track record of bouncing between various things and not finishing any in a timely manner as a result

something andromeda does very well is the space scenes, they're all very pretty and the atmosphere is great :) i do not currently have the time to go and take pictures from a bunch of different star systems so it'll just be the heleus cluster as a whole for the screenshot, but the scenery all over is beautiful

unsurprisingly, the first thing i'm posting for this is avitus rix and macen barro here's a bunch of random screenshots!! they're not super cinematic or anything, i just like having them. they bring me joy here's avitus' mission portrait and the singular image of macen that exists :sob:

from here on out it'll only be avitus because unfortunately no other images of macen exist. until postgame when he and avitus are reunited, of course. because macen is alive more under keep reading so this doesn't take up ungodly amounts of space on people's screens

wait what's this mea week thing i'm seeing? is there like a list of prompts or something? i have so so many thoughts about this game and they yearn to be released i'm sure my posting history has made it abundantly clear how much i love a certain pair of turians, but andromeda as a whole is very beloved to me. it was my first mass effect game and i am very attached to it all this is to say i'm wondering what's going on and how i can get in on it
