Inktober with a Jackalope Day 1 #inktober #illustration #creatures
Hey guys! Gonna be streaming for a couple hours working on an illustration for inktober day 1! Come chill with me!
Pssst! This is me! (a blue jackalope haha)
Come hang out for a while!
Pssssst.....
....it’s here.
My weird lucky cat. This guy was another @ the convention piece, but I actually forgot to put him in with the others, so I’m posting him here!
I was bored and asked a friend what I should make, and he said a lucky cat so...this weirdly malnourished psycho-cat is what popped out from that recommendation. xD This is another 4 hour piece done mostly with brush on 9x12 bristol. I will NOT be making a print of him, but the original might be available for sale at a later date.
...on a side note...I made my guy sit like this so I could draw ankles. In a folding chair. At an outdoor convention.
...it was beautiful.
I posted a crappy photo of this before, but this is a nicer scan (yes yes, I need to fix the crop, haha) of my sketchbook cover.
This is done with ink pens (whatever I could find that was small enough to draw with or large enough to fill...I used multiples) and a gel pen on the weird..chip-board/cardboard thing that is my cover.
These sorts of designs are really relaxing for me and developed from old habits when I was a kid and couldn’t get away with just drawing in class. Instead, I did these space-filling activities and eventually they grew into these minimally-planned covers.
This guy is super popular with people so he’ll actually be getting his own print sometime soon. I just need to decide how I want to print him and on what paper..
The Greenwich King!
This is a 4 hour ink piece on 9x12 bristol using dip pens and brushes only. It features one of my great horned serpents--the Greenwich King.
Greenwich is a deep woods deity of stars peaking through winter branches. He only shows up in the dead quiet of black nights, where the snow is thick and gleams with starlight. Greenwich is true neutral, rarely if ever interacting with anyone or thing, be they mortal or not, but is locally considered to be a companion to those dying in the snow. He neither can nor will affect the fate of the dying, but he watches over them as they succumb to the cold, and survivors of those near-death experiences speak of him as a welcome omen.
“It is better,” one such survivor whispers, the remains of his frost-bitten palms wrapped around a cup of tea, “than dying alone. He doesn’t speak, doesn’t murmur or whisper; he offers no comfort. He merely sits there, coiled in the snow, and watches the stars at your side.”
We just got back from a convention and as y’all know, I can’t sit still at cons for very long so BAM! Art happened!
The first guy is a 30-45 min watercolor on 6x9 watercolor paper and the second is a 1 hour ink on 9x12 bristol. I’m currently working out some new online/offline commission rates and these two are some examples of new options!
New 5x7″ postcards are available in the Etsy store! These guys are all on matte paper and feel really nice in the hand. We will be adding more post-card sized pieces to the shop and to our convention table (with a fancy smancy new display if we can find one we like soon, haha) pretty soon, but the size may actually change for the next run--we have had some great advice from a fellow artist and are considering changing to a 4x6″ size for our future mini-prints.
We are hoping to keep things neat and clean and want to stick to a handful of comfortable sizes for us, so we’ll have to see later on if that’s what we decide to do.
On a side note, we’re going to be fairly active this weekend because we have a POLL coming up in regards to the DnD Dice and Dragons discount we plan to be running at our table in the future! If you like dragons, like DnD or just plain like discounts, keep an eye out for that later today!
We’ll also be doing a convention-art drop today of the original art I made at and before GuildCon this year. ;]
Busy as bees here at the Coniving household, but we do have some news! Conman and I recently moved into our new apartment, finished my summer classes and started fall ones, adopted a kitten my mom stumbled on, and have finally Finally gotten the Okami print in Stock in our Etsy shop! We also have three new additions to our print lineup; postcard sized black and white pieces that I'll link in the next post! For now this is a "hi we aren't dead!" along with a couple small announcements. First off, we aren't dead! Secondly, aside from the new prints you can find in our Etsy store, we're hard at work on some other new things including custom made cover art for sketchbooks/journals! The image above is a sharpie and gel pen piece on the cover of a sketchbook I use for class, but I'll be offering two acrylic paintings on moleskine journals up on Etsy soon! These will be occasional (inconsistent) features to our store, so catch them when I'm in the mood to make them, haha! Thirdly, we are planning a set of acrylic charms to hopefully have available by winter, and I'll post up the details on those (and the die cut stickers we plan to make alongside them) as we get closer to time. Print news includes the plans for Two overwatch prints we will have ready for the next convention season! We will have a Roadhog print ala Conman and I'll making a matched pair of prints based off of the Reinhardt skins "bloodhardt" and "blackhardt" respectively. I also hope to have some original ink and potentially watercolor pieces available, and there's a slim possibility that I'll have my mini-mini comic "Blood God" available for purchase at our next big con. In addition to product news we have some convention news as well. Our plans this year are to hit up SwarmCon and RetroMegaGaming Con in spring (both in Savannah ga), assuming they line up alright, and I'll be hopefully making the trip to Texas for A-kon 2017(Dallas) in June, assuming we're able to snag a table! I also have Animefest (Dallas again) in August on my list, which will wrap up our 2017 convention line up with a hopeful breach into the new year with Ikkicon 2018 in Austin! These Texas cons are a bit hard for us to make it to (15+ hour drive and much more costly overall ) but I really love them and we haven't found a preferred alternative closer to his neck of the woods yet, so this is what I (and conman if he can swing the time) have decided to do! I will also be present at Ikkicon 2017, but not as a dealer--I'll just be hanging out with a good friend. If you wanna say hi or make a deal for a hand-delivered commission though, send me an ask or a message and I'll see if something can be arranged. And that wraps everything up! Keep an eye out for the postcard prints I'll be featuring in the next post, and I'll see you all later! - Ivy, the indisputably blue jackalope.
A Nighthawk and Bioshock inspired piece. It shows a diner in the underwater utopia of Rapture framed to honor the painting Nighthawk by Edward Hopper. This was one of my favorite pieces to create. When I saw Hoppers painting I couldnt help but think how cool it would be to see a Rapture interpretation of the work. This is an 11x17 print (11 high and 17 long) on high quality, glossy cover paper. It can withstand a surprising amount of abuse with little to no damage--a feature we found particularly impressive for our display prints--and have a really gorgeous quality of high detail. Will be shipped between two pieces of corrugated cardboard, taped up and shipped in a water resistant envelope. (Please note; the watermark that is on the image will NOT be on your print! This is to protect our images online and are not on the actual artwork or print.)
Check it out! Conor put up his Bioshock print in our etsy store!
Please keep in mind, we only have 5 of these left! Once they’re gone we may do a slight redesign/update, so it could be a while before they are available again!
So ben away for a while (busy!), but there’s some exciting news that I am bouncy-happy to share with y’all!
First off, I’ll be making a Pokemon tarot card deck. These loopy derp up above will NOT be the style, but several of them WILL be making a showing as charms (mudkip & hanging charizard) and several more will be made into stickers! (all charizards, mudkip & psyduck).
Secondly, our Etsy shop is in full swing, but we also finally got Conor’s Bioshock print up! Still waiting to order the Okami print (we would really like to order it with the stickers, but it isn’t looking likely...), but otherwise it’s up and smooth!

Hey guys! Coniving Collabs have finally gotten their tushies in gear and VOILA! I present to you, our first Etsy shop! :D
Spent a lot of time getting this baby up and running as smoothly as possible, and while there’s definitely a lot of work yet to go (so much .____. ) I’m happy to say that IT. IS. UP!
We will be posting up the majority of our prints and stock here, but there ARE a few prints you will not find there. The Papyrus and Portal beast prints will NOT be put up on the Etsy shop today or in the future, in respect to the wishes of Undertale’s creator (who does not want art sold online) and Portal (for which parody is allowed to keep the portal beast available only offline.) If you’re interested in either of those prints, I’m sorry but you’ll have to snag them from us in person at a convention.
Speaking of, we’re getting close to that point where we’ll be announcing our Convention schedule for (what’s left of) 2016, and 2017! Its gonna be a bumpy year (we’re debating several cons at the moment and the break will be funding), but we’re excited to hopefully see some old faces and new ones along the way. ;]
See y’all on the flip side!
Ivy
Just got in for the day (hurrah! Saturdays!) and we're worn out, but pleased. Posted up an almost finished dragon commission that is long over due (needs some whites and a bit more finesse with details, but I'm hoping I'll have enough energy in an hour or so to finish him and get the group sent), as well as a photo of our newest print to be! The white and blue one is the only progress shot I took--I kept meaning to make more, but I kept forgetting. Y'all can look forward to that one as an 11x14 print at our next con, and also in our Etsy shop when we open up sometime in the next few weeks (once the con tired wears away and we get the free time to set up our listings). Tomorrow is the last day for Fanboy Expo, so if you're in Knoxville, Tennessee come find us at the Knoxville convention center! We will be around until 5pm, and I'll be open for small watercolor commissions and large inks til 2, and small inks until 4. See y'all there!
Fanboy Expo
Up bright and early for Fanboy Expo! Absolutely exhausted (long night packing the prints and commission stuff in their new box, long hours setting the booth up, long day running errands and getting new stuff for the booth) but excited. If you're around Knoxville this weekend, drop by to see us! Dealer room opens at 11:30 for VIPS and 12 (I believe) for everybody else!
Hey! Coniving is in Tennessee for the summer, gearing up for Fanboy Con June 24th through the 26th! We're a bit slow on the draw this month (school ended in a rush of packing and driving and chaos and we'll be moving to a new apartment at the end of July so we're planning for that as well), but we have some plans we hope to bring to the convention. No lies, we're exhausted but we're excited for the con. See y'all there!
So it's the beginning of the end day. :D These photos are for a project I'm working in (obviously still in progress) and I show them to you for a singular reason: Figures are coming. Our next convention is at the end of June, and by then I'll be offering up a new thing for our table! Polymer and cast resin figures. None will be as hefty as this 9-inch tall centaur (thinking palm sized at the most), but I have some plans for some tiny unicorns, some Gungeon inspired bullets, and maybe some neko atsume kitties. ;) See y'all on the con floor!
Retromega Gaming Con
Bit of a belated post (as its post-con, rather than pre), but we just wanted to say we had a lot of fun at this one-day convention!
Not gonna lie, we were a bit worried about the one day (would it help us, would it hurt us, would it be stressful, etc..) but we had very few problems setting up, had a nice spot and lots of friendly people stopping by to chat! We sold more prints than we’ve sold in one place before and honestly, it was a blast all around. :]
Looking forward to our next convention in Knoxville, Texas at the end of summer! Bit out of our range so we’re not sure we’ll see any familiar faces, but we’re really excited to show off some of the prints that we have in plans.
Speaking of, look for some updates in those once we’re out of school for the summer (in early June)! We can’t really spare the time to work on them during the quarter, but we have a “The Swing” and Ed, Edd, and Eddy crossover painting, a Fallout 4 watercolor piece heavily influenced by Japanese-style tattooing (I’m actually hugely into watercolors, ink, and tattoos at the moment, so if I have time I’ll probably do more than one tattoo-style print for this convention), a collection of coffee-dile and uni-loosa stickers, and potentially some Gungeon-themed keychains & polymer figures all rattling around in the old think-box, and we’re hoping to get as much of it as we can done in time!
Until then, we’ll see y’all around! ;D
