H-he’s… a friend…Kind of.. He had a crush on Tiff. Got mad at me for leaving when Tiff died for me. [sighs and takes another drink, finishing it.]
Wow; you huntresses seem to be kind of irresistible. And yeah, I guess I see where he's coming from... Do you want some more of that? [gestures towards the drink]
Yeah… but Blink got mad at me for it. Mentioning Tiff and such… [takes another sip]
Uhm... who? I mean this Blink person; of course I'd remember Tiff. [puts a comforting hand on her shoulder]

Once she was safely on the train, Marina looked around the compartment she was in and saw that the dark-haired Erudite transfer was standing a few feet away from where she was. There weren’t many transfers; from what she could see in this one compartment, there was herself, the Erudite girl, an Erudite boy, who was talking to Desmond Harper, a Candor transfer, Rina’s ex-boyfriend and first kiss. Had he transferred to Dauntless? Rina couldn’t remember hearing him transfer, maybe it was when she was caught up in her own thoughts. His last name started with an ‘H’, so he had been after her. Perhaps what she hoped of starting over wouldn’t work out too well if he was here. Things had gotten awkward between the two of them since their break up, and they hadn’t really talked but he still knew a lot about her, more than anyone in Dauntless ever would.
Pushing the thought out of her mind, she went over to the Erudite girl and greeted her with a gentle smile. “Hey, I’m Marina. I guess there aren’t many of us transfers here, so our best bets probably sticking together.” With a nod the girl next to her replied quietly. “I-It’s nice t-to meet y-you, M-marina. I-I’m… B-belle.” Just as Rina was about to respond to the other dark haired girl, she heard the familiar male voice. Turning her head to face Cal, she nodded with a small smile. “Yeah, we did. Oh, um.. Cal, this is Belle. Belle, Cal.” She introduced them to one another.
Although she wasn’t entirely sure when, Marina knew that they would have to jump off the train and it wouldn’t stop for them. Just like it didn’t stop when they had to get on the train.
Even Rina's small smiles were bright enough to light up Cal's mood. Smiling back at her, the young Archer nodded, then nodded his head towards girl in blue. Belle was pretty, in a quiet sort of way. However, Cal couldn't help but feel a twinge of worry for her. She looked so uncertain, so frail that he wondered how she was going to take all the harsh training that they were going to be put under.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Belle," Cal said smoothly, giving her his best grin. Might as well make her welcome.
"L-likewise, Cal," Belle said in a strangely mellifluous and hypnotic voice. Woah. Well, if Belle couldn't fight her way past elimination rounds, she could always charm her way through them.
Just then, someone started hooting. The noise was picked up by the other dozens of Dauntless initiates in the train.
Already? "Alright, you guys. Time to jump." If they couldn't do it, then they were out of the running. If they could, well, good for them. Cal gave a dubious glance towards the other Candor transfer; he looked too pretty to know what he was doing, let alone brave enough to actually go through the jump. Eh. Maybe he'd prove him wrong.
Cal spun around to see people already jumping off of the train and landing on the opposite to the track, "Okay- We're going to have to do this now, before we get left behind." He motioned for the transfers to follow him. "You need a running start. When you get to the edge of the door, push off with your strongest foot and leg. When you land, use your hands and roll forwards, tucking in your chin as you use your right shoulder to brace yourself. Got it?"
Well, she wad the one who asked if I wanted to leave….
Right... [finishes his current bottle, gets another one] Well. Uhm. I hope you don't regret your decision.
A few days ago, we passed the Sea of Monsters and the other huntresses didn’t hear the Sirens singing…but I wanted to.. and I saw what I wanted and Lady Artemis asked if I wanted to leave the Hunt. I thought about it and I decided that I’d rather have the choice to leave than be forced to leave. [takes a drink] That’s basically it.
... Wow. Okay. And she just... accepted it?
[nods] Yes, I left. [takes a drink] It’s..a long story…
Well, we've got time and we've got booze. Spill.
… You what???
[takes a drink] Left the Hunt. As in not a huntress anymore.
... You left the hunt. You left it.
Apollo. Believe it or not, he visited me when I was in the Hunt and told me that you were alive. The conversation didn’t end too well. [walks over and sits on the couch, taking the bottle from him] Thanks. [takes a sip and grimaces as the alcohol goes down her throat]…
Uhh…Blink got mad at me. For leaving the Hunt. [takes a drink]
... You what???

She had figured the Dauntless initiation would be a hard one, with the bravery and all but what she didn’t know was that it started now. Climbing up the rails then on to the moving train was when it really began and if you couldn’t…then you were factionless before you even reached the Dauntless headquarters. And there was no way she was going to be one of them who ended up factionless.
With a nod, Rina stepped closer to the railings and clasped it with her hands. She could feel the tracks shaking, which meant that the train was coming. Great. Less time for her to get up. With a small smile at what he said, she pushed herself up, using Cal’s clasped palms. Once she had a balance, she began climbing the railings as fast as she could.
It was a good thing Marina ran with Kat occasionally when they were back in Candor; it meant she wouldn’t mind strenuous exercise including running. Before she knew it, she was at the top and the only thing left was for her to jump on the train. Pushing her hair behind her ear, the brunette began running along the tracks and reached for the handle of the train when she was close enough and pushed herself up, getting herself inside.
Cal grunted slightly as Marina stepped on his palms and he clenched his abs to better brace himself and support Rina's ascent. Soon enough, the previously Candor girl had climbed halfway up. Not bad, for someone who wasn't born into the most athletic faction of them all.
Shaking out of his reverie by the increasing vibrations sounding from the track, Cal hastily began his own climb up the beam, expertly swinging his limbs around, positioning himself beneath Marina in case the other teenager fell. Luckily, she didn't, and soon made it to the tracks. Following suit, Cal hauled himself up to the train tracks. It wasn't any harder- in fact, it was easier- than scaling the side of an old, abandoned building.
Then the train came rushing along. Heart pounding against his chest, Cal reflexively reached reached out to grab one of the handles on the train and pulled himself onto the ledge. With a grunt he clenched his abs and smoothly swung himself into the compartment-
- and right into a cuddly mass of Xander and Storm.
An intense blush from Cal, an uncomfortable look from Xander, and a glare from Storm, Cal disentangled himself from the pair and quickly strode off in the direction where he thought Rina was. Around him, initiates chatted loudly, some speculating about rankings. He heard his, Lukas's, Xander's, Storm's and Brennan's names all mentioned as the contenders for the top five.
Finally, Cal found Rina talking to a dark brunette in blue. "So- you two made the jump in one piece then," he said, walking up to them.
Unless you're prepared to come get drunk with me,
Apollo. Believe it or not, he visited me when I was in the Hunt and told me that you were alive. The conversation didn’t end too well. [walks over and sits on the couch, taking the bottle from him] Thanks. [takes a sip and grimaces as the alcohol goes down her throat] Gods, that’s strong. [but she takes another sip] How did it happen?
Oh. Yeah, yeah, I can imagine. [raises an eyebrow and watches her drink] Okay... What's got you all in a drinking mood, anyways?
Uhm. Another demigod found and resuscitated me. [takes another drink]
Unless you're prepared to come get drunk with me,
I guess he was right… You are alive. Is that alcohol? Care to share, Cal?
O-oh. Rina. [shoots up, swinging his feet over the side of the couch but hesitates, unsure of what to do] Who was right now...? And yeah, it is. I'm almost done with this one, but I have more. Here. [hands her a bottle of vodka]
Unless you're prepared to come get drunk with me,
I suggest that you get the fuck out.
[Zach chokes out a cough and nods, taking his share. He wipes his nose with his arm and looks away.] Im sorry. I-I-I . . . Callum, thank you for making him happy.
... Yeah. Yeah, I did. ... Right?
A-anyways. Ahm. Thanks for the letter. I'll just... be in my cabin. [turns to go]
[Zach starts sobbing while listening to the letter. He stands up and hugs Callum.] Im so sorry. Callum, im sorry.
[freezes for a few seconds, still in shock, before he finds it in him to return the hug, though not whole-heartedly. Wordlessly, he nods repeatedly before he steps back, not quite meeting Zach's eyes] I'm going to keep my part of the letter. Hold on- I'll rip it... [folds the letter where he needs to, right above where Xander wrote his full name, and, with trembling hands, manages to fold it as crisply as he could and rips it down the folded line against the wall, splitting it neatly] Here. [hands his half to him]
Finally back.
[Nods and rubs his neck.] There’s a part for you, towards the end.
[shifts the paper so that he reads the bottom]
Callum Titus Carter Archer. I love you so, so, very much.
You know, I never really understood some of Tennyson. Not until I met you, I mean.
"I hold it true, whate'er befall;
I feel it, when I sorrow most;
'T is better to have loved and lost
Than never to have loved at all."
I love you.
But please don't come and find me.
Forever yours,
Xander
[soon realizes that there are tears running down his face, but does nothing to stop them]
Finally back.
[Nods and motions for Callum to follow. They enter cabin 11 and zach pulls out the letter from under his bed.] Here …
[Follows, barely keeping it together. Impatient, he snatches it out of Zach's hand and reads it over and over.] He... he left this for you?
