so i think the possible new single is gonna be a title track. if you go look at the single record for emergence on sleep token’s shop, you’ll see that there’s a b side listed on it. a side is obviously emergence, but the blank spaces for the b side are the same as even in arcadia.

that was just one of the first things i noticed and i had a feeling there would be another single out by the end of the month. take this as you will.

The monument that the Shugborough inscription code was found, Shepherds Monument, has an engraving of Nicolas Poussin's painting the Shepherds of Arcadia. The painting has 4 figures around a tomb that has the Latin Ensciption “Et in Arcadia ego” which mean “Even in Arcadia, I am there” which people have theorized “I” being death, unclear if death means the concept of the person in the tomb

Arcadia is also a region in Greece which was seen as the mythological birthplace of the Greek God Hermes. He was the herald of the gods. He is also widely considered the protector of human heralds, travelers, thieves, merchants, and orators.. Hermes was also seen as a courier of souls to the afterlife

my connection I’m making is that it goes along with the “I am the teeth of god”. He is literally the voices and letters carrier of the gods

so in the shugborough inscription, the people are pointing to a tomb that reads “ET IN ARCADIA EGO” which means “i am also in arcadia” or “i am, even in arcadia”. arcadia was the realm ruled by pan, the god of the forest.

though the shugborough inscription has never been deciphered, the DM part of DOUOSVAVVM was often used on roman tombs. it stands for “Dis Manibus” which means “dedicated to the shades”. the “shades” could be manes, which were the underworldly deities that people became once they died.

maybe this will have something to do with the two houses that you chose from in the email. maybe arcadia is one of them and something else is the other?

something i wanna point out is if you put DOUOSVAVVM into google translate and switch it to latin, it translates to two-faced.

obviously google translate should be taken with a grain of salt but i just wanted to mention that. do with it what you will.

so first off, the masks.

vessel has 3 pairs of eyes on his mask, but they’re obviously blacked out. the only part of his face that is visible is his mouth. the numerals, on the other hand, have x’s over their mouths. the only part of their faces you can see are their eyes. vessel’s vision was lost/taken by sleep, so he sees through his numerals. in return for that, vessel does all of the speaking, either in general or directly to sleep. vessel is the voice, the numerals are the sight.
