“For every mission, there is a right way and a wrong way. Barging thoughtlessly into combat is, more often than not, the latter.”
I am a murderous monster. My hands are stained red. Could one such as I truly hope for such a life? As the sole survivor of that day, do I… Do I have the right to live for myself?

Whether skyward bound, adrift in time, or steeped in the glowing embers of twilight, the sacred blade is forever bound to the soul of the HERO.
Been playing The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and the story is amazing...there’s only one gripe I have: the ending.
First off: I like the four endings the game offers but it’s more aimed towards the future that my...scorn? bitterness??? originates. Basically it’s kinda the “The Hunger Games” problem. You have this awesome character that is badass and cool and does all these cool world changing things, is involved in politics, saves people: their own kin + royalty but the same can be said for killing kin + royalty. And then at the end you hope to hear that this character will continue to like follow through with this stuff coz D U H but then they.... settle down???? And it’s kind of a letdown????
I get Geralt settling down, I really do (even with the Ciri ending he’s basically settling down: just doing a regular job and traveling a bit, not much more). But I feel like something I’d have loved to see is Geralt becoming this mentor-like figure. Because he is totally set up for it.
Imagine a spin off game series. Imagine that there’s a “Witcher: the new prophecy” game or whatever and you’re this young inexperienced Witcher starting of on your journey for w h a t e v e r and on your quest you get tutored and mentored by Geralt who will tell you stuff like “You remind me of my first student... just as much vigor as her.”
And the thing is the ending makes clear that this is not the case and it’s kind of sad? Because he’s set up for it. He has tutored Ciri, he’s compassionate, likes children to a certain degree.
In Assassins’s Creed I the protag dies and we see him again in Assassins’s Creed II: he’s long dead but even in death he was still a sort of mentor to the new Assassin because he gave him valuable information: it was very well done.
What I’m trying to say: Geralt’s ending was like Sokka when he could’ve been Katara. The end.
Evil is Evil. Lesser, greater, middling… Makes no difference.
