You stumble forward with a surprised laugh. Before you can protest, you're sitting sideways across his lap.
"There," he says, wrapping an absentminded arm around your waist as he keeps reading.
"It'll help me focus."
He heard every word before. He just wanted an excuse.
CHRIS REDFIELD
There is no warning.
You walk past him.
Then suddenly, you're airborne.
"Chris!"
He laughs as he deposits you onto his lap like you weigh absolutely nothing.
"There you are."
"I was literally going to the kitchen."
"Nah."
"I was making coffee."
"You can make it later."
He smiles so shamelessly that arguing feels pointless.
You stay. And since you're here, you get comfy.
ETHAN WINTERS
Ethan doesn't announce that he had a bad day. You know because of the way he walks through the door.
His shoulders are tense. He drops his keys on the counter a little harder than usual. He stands there for a second like he's reminding himself that he's home.
You open your mouth to ask if he's okay. You don't get the chance.
He crosses the room. No words. No explanation. He just reaches for you, pulls you into his lap, and buries his face against your neck.
You freeze for half a second. Then your arms wrap around him.
"That bad?" you whisper.
A quiet breath leaves him.
"Yeah." His grip tightens slightly. "Missed you," he murmurs.
After a few minutes, you feel his breathing finally even out, but you still don't talk until he's ready.
ALBERT WESKER
You are halfway through explaining something.
Wesker simply reaches out, takes hold of your wrist, and pulls. It's so smooth you don't even realize what's happening until you're sitting across his lap.
"Was that necessary?" you ask.
"Yes."
He returns to reading the document in his hand.
You wait. "Are you going to tell me?"
"No."
"I have to–"
"I wouldn't recommend leaving."
"Why?"
Without looking up, one corner of his mouth lifts. "You're right where we both want you."
Annoyingly, you stop trying to get up.
SIMON RILEY
The room is packed. Too many people. Not enough chairs. You stand near the wall, trying not to look as uncomfortable as you feel while everyone else settles in. You shift your weight from one foot to the other, preparing to just stand there for the next hour.
Simon notices.
He looks around quickly, trying to find the solution. No seats. No room.
Then his hand closes around your wrist. He pulls you down.
Suddenly you're sitting on Simon Riley's lap, his arm resting securely around your waist to keep you from slipping.
The conversation around you continues. Nobody says anything. Nobody seems to even want to look in your direction.
Simon must be sporting one of his infamous 'I don't want to hear anything about it' looks.
You turn your head slightly. Peek at him.
Yep.
You look away, trying very hard not to smile. You hear his voice in your ear.
"Comfortable?"
You glance back at him. "Are you?"
His eyes soften just slightly.
He hums.
“Then I guess this works. At least, until I start squishing you.”
He wraps his arm tighter. Chuckles under his breath.
Both men would think their lover is incredibly attractive. Leon is the one who would actually say it and consistently remind you of it, whereas Chris would simply assume that you already know and that it’s meaningless to state the obvious.
Chris assumes his attraction to you is already obvious. If he’s chosen to spend his life with you - if he reaches for your hand, kisses your forehead, and the way he looks at you - then in his mind you’d already received every compliment that matters. To him, love is demonstrated and words are secondary.
Leon knows that you probably already know that he’s attracted to you, but he tells you anyways. Because from Leon’s perspective, hearing “You’re beautiful.” or “You look gorgeous.” might sound redundant and simple, but he knows that it might make your entire day. And, there isn’t anything Leon won’t do to ensure your happiness.

Chris’ character is defined by steadfast duty, unwavering loyalty, and expressing care through action rather than emotional openness and spoken affection.
Chris is probably one of the least verbally affirming protagonists in the RE series. Across the series, Chris’ dialogue is very practical. Years in the Air Force, then followed by S.T.A.R.S. and the BSAA, have conditioned him to communicate with purpose. His words are primarily utilized to solve problems, give instructions, or acknowledge someone’s performance. Because of that, compliments about appearance mostly never occur to him naturally.
It’s not that he isn’t looking, because he absolutely notices.
He notices when you change up your hair.
He notices when you wear a dress he hasn’t seen before.
He notices when you walk into the room and looks breathtaking (which is every.single.time because you light up his world with your presence).
He just doesn’t think to verbalize it. Because, in Chris’s mind, saying “You’re beautiful.” almost feels like announcing that water is wet. It’s true. It’s obvious. Surely, you already know and he is absolutely confident enough about you to make that assumption. His brain doesn’t connect attraction with the need for verbal affirmation.
Instead, the compliments that do come naturally are mostly tied to effort and achievement. These are the compliments Chris understands instinctively because they’re measurable: they’re acknowledgements of something you’ve done, not something you are.

Chris consistently evaluates people by their resilience, reliability, and actions. Throughout the series, respect is something he gives because someone has demonstrated courage or competence and definitely not because of their appearances.
Ironically, if Chris ever casually mutters, “You look beautiful.” it would most definitely grab your full attention. Because, if he says it, he has almost certainly been thinking it for hours before finally deciding to voice it. And, it is the rarity of his words used in this context that gives it so much weight.

“I know you probably know…but I’m going to say it because you deserve to hear it out loud.”
Leon consistently demonstrates emotional awareness and is communicative, often using reassurance, and gentle humour to steady those around him. His empathy makes him more inclined to voice encouragement and affirmation.
Leon is much more likely to tell his lover that they’re beautiful. It’s not something he does constantly, but he sure does it consistently. He doesn’t do it in an over-the-top or grandiose manner, he always does it so naturally - but with a flirtatious undertone to it.
Leon is someone who is highly attuned to other people’s emotions. Even after years of trauma, his character still retains an empathy that remains consistent across all of his appearances in the series. He notices when people are frightened, discouraged, embarrassed, or carrying emotional burdens, and he instinctively adjusts how he speaks to put them at ease. This emotional awareness naturally is reflected in his romantic relationship, because he understands that knowing something isn’t the same as hearing it from someone you love.
If you spend longer getting ready than usual, he’ll smile the moment you walk out and greet you with a “You look gorgeous.”
When you’re wearing one of his shirts around the home, with hair messy and no makeup, he’ll catch you around the waist and murmur, “You’re cute.”
If you catch him staring, he’ll give you a cheeky smirk and tease you with a “You look sexy.”
All of his compliments come across organically, none of it feels performative. He says it because that’s genuinely what he’s thinking. But, he also says it because he knows how words matter.
One of Leon’s defining traits throughout the series is that he reassures people. Whether he’s calming frightened civilians or gently encouraging his partner, he instinctively uses words to comfort and steady people emotionally. That same instinct would make him someone who tends to verbalizes admiration, because Leon believes people deserves to be reminded of the good things that are true about them.

Chris rolled over in bed, lazily throwing his arm around you only for his arm to thump against the mattress.
He cracked an eye open before letting out a sigh at the sight of the empty space next to him, closing his eyes to go back to sleep.
He had done so rather successfully until his alarm went off.
He slapped the off button, letting his eyes rest for a few more minutes.
When Chris opened his eyes again, he shot up, throwing off the covers.
"Shit," he whispered, realizing that he had managed to fall back asleep.
In his defense, what kind of job sends him to work at 9 in the morning when he just got back from a mission 6 hours ago.
His, apparently.
He had no time to make coffee, lunch, or breakfast and no time to stop anywhere. He was going to have to run on fumes until lunchtime where he could get a good coffee and something more than a snack from the vending machine.
The man quickly threw on a shirt and pair of pants, brushing his teeth before grabbing his wallet and keys from the dresser so he could leave.
Chris stopped short at the front door when he saw a piece of paper taped there, your handwriting decorating the page.

Your lunch is in the plastic bag in the fridge, coffee is in the to-go mug on the counter though it may not be warm anymore, and I threw the last bit of the breakfast casserole in the bag as well for your breakfast. Don't overexert yourself today. Love you xx.
He glanced towards the counter, travel mug sitting there like a beacon before he moved to the fridge, seeing a bag with sticky note stuck to it, his name scrawled across the little piece of paper.
Chris smiled softly, "how did I get so lucky?"
He grabbed the bag and the mug before heading out the door, feeling his mood brighten in an instant.

You sighed as you got out of the car, walking up the driveway and through the front door, glancing around for your boyfriend.
“Chris?” You called out and you heard his footsteps start coming down the hallway.
“Hey, babe.” He smiled, wrapping you up in a hug and planting a kiss to your lips which you returned, “How was work?”
“Tiresome.” You answered and Chris nodded.
“I figured you’d say that which is why I ran you a bath.” He guided you towards the bathroom where you saw a bubble bath waiting for you.
You turned to your boyfriend, pressing another kiss to his mouth, “Thank you, bubba.”
“Thank you for this morning. You were a lifesaver.” He told you, and you waved him off.
“You needed as much sleep as you could get. You came in late, or early, however you want to look at it. You shouldn’t have had to go in today at all.” You brought a hand up, frowning as you caressed a scar on his face, “It’s dumb to make you go through all that, come back at ridiculous hours and then make you go in at nine o’clock in the morning.”
He brought his hand to your wrist, giving it a kiss, “I know.”
You gave him a soft smile, which Chris returned before he let go of your wrist, gently pushing you towards the tub, “Get in before it gets cold. Relax. I’ll fix us up some dinner in the meantime.”
