I have a boyfriend i’ve been together with for almost over 3 years now and he’s genuinely like a big brother to me. we both often talk about how badly we’d want to be siblings and fantasised about me getting accidentally pregnant (because i’m just a freak lol).

its kinda stupid/silly but i have an online friend who 'adopted' me and some of the others in our friendgroup/i literally call him dad even tho irl he's like a year younger than me. we've shipped our ocs together- his sona with some of my ocs. i have two sonas and both of them call his sona dad lol but one of them is in a poly oc ship with him hehe

Hi there, this is off my chest. Consang admission incoming.

Despite not being related, my best friend is about 10 years younger than me. We've joked for years that he is a son to me and I frequently talk to him like a father figure would. It's a great dynamic because his bio dad was never there for him and I get to be like a surrogate. Breaking cycles and harmful coping circles from his childhood and young adulthood. Being the best dad I can be for him.

I love my son.

I know I'll be at his wedding. The only question is if I'll be walking him down the aisle or standing across from him reading vows.

I have an irl friend who I am not related to, but we describe our relationship as incestuous consistently. We’re both somewhere on the aroace spectrum as well so there’s not much romance going on, but we’ve just agreed that we’re siblings and we’re incestuous.

I love my little brother so much and it kills me to know he'll never feel the same. I would do whatever it took if I knew it meant we could be together, but I just can't take the risk of confessing and losing him from my life completely. I see him so often, we know each other so well, but he'll never know how I feel about him. Someday he'll move away from me, get married, maybe even have kids of his own. why do y’all call it consang and not incest

I use both, but other people use incest more to mean the stuff that happens non consensually, and consang more to mean relationships between consenting adults

Melody is generally pro consang despite going through parent on child CSA and being anti contact for large age gaps. Incest CAN be bad. Melody can’t think of a reason why an older family member would go for the kids in their family of all people except to make use of the power they have. As a kid who still deals with the trauma of everything, it sucks when they forced you to believe that’s what family love is.

But what’s the problem if cousins/siblings of similar age wanna get married and adopt kids? good for them. Yay! That’s all good like what the problem except “it’s weird and gross” why does that have to be illegal?

ALSO if the problem is incest itself, having a dynamic where you have attraction to your family member is the crime that makes Melody somehow guilty or gross for “enjoying” being SAd. The problem was always the abuse. anyway thats all :3

It’s pretty much synonymous with incest, although sometimes people use ‘consang’ to mean incest between consenting adults. it comes from ‘consanguinity’ (people who are related) and ‘amory’ (love)
